Bruno's Bubbles

"Knock! Knock!" yelled Hestia as she stepped into Bruno's flat. "Are you in here?" The room was silent except for a quiet shriek from a bat hanging the corner. "Bruno?"
"In here, Hestia!" a voice came from the kitchen. "Just whipping up some drinks."
Hestia wound through stacks of books and old newspapers to find Bruno at the counter in the kitchen stirring a cauldron. "Drinks?" she asked. "I didn't know you drinks were made in cauldrons."
Bruno turned his head to look over his shoulder, "I'm trying a new recipe with special herbs. I didn't want it to accidentally burn through my pitcher, so I'm making it in the cauldron to be on the safe side."
Hestia could feel her tongue slipping in between her lips, "Safe side? I don't like the sound of this."
"Well, it's sort of like Muggle "power drinks"," explained Bruno. He stopped stirring to reach up into the cupboard and brought out two glasses.
"Power drinks? Muggles don't make potions though. Well, not correctly anyway."
"This isn't a potion, Hestia, it is a refreshment. It gives you energy." He poured the gloppy mixture into the glasses. "Here-" He handed one to her. It was a strange brownish green with a red foam on top. "Drink up!" He took a deep swig of it; Hestia was more hesitant.
She was taking a sniff of it when Bruno all of a sudden made a burping noise. Out of his mouth floated a large red bubble, then another. "Bruno!" He was turning a green colour. "Bruno!" Hestia quickly put down the glass and moved to hold him. He did not look well at all. Then all of a sudden he spun around and doubled over the sink. He proceeded to vomit up the "power drink".
When he was done, Hestia led him to the table and sat him down. "See, Bruno," Hestia scolded, "this is why you should not be testing potions. You're not a potions master, you're a mortician."
Bruno wiped his mouth with his hand, "Yeah, I think I added too much Saponaria officinalis root."
"Soapwort root?" Hestia cried, "That's poisonous, Bruno! It's a surprise you didn't kill us." A dawning look came across Bruno's face.
"Oh, yeah, maybe it is supposed to the flower. Yeah, that's it. It's not supposed to be the root that you take internally, it's the flower."
Hestia groaned and got up to dump the mixture down the sink, "Well, I'm here, alive still, thankfully. What did you want to tell me, Bruno?"
Stuffed Up
Author: Fritz Schnackenpfefferhausen
Date: 07-04-04 13:31
With the score at 20 for Slytherin, 10 for Ravenclaw and his own team currently in possession of the quaffle, Fritz flies around looking for an opportunity to do some good for his team, or some bad for the opposing team. His eyes are burning, though, from the cold blasts of wind, and it's making it very difficult to see. Plus, his nose still hurts.
"I can't breathe," he shouts at Coco, when he zips alongside her to take on one of the two bludgers that both came rocketing towards the same location at the same time. She looks at him sympathetically when she gets the chance and shouts, "'Ospital Wing!"
And Fritz nods in agreement. If he makes it through the game, the first thing he's going to do is go to the Hospital Wing and see if he can't get Madam Pomfrey to give him some Pepperup Potion or something similar to cure him of his ailments.
Bloody Hell
Author: Kody
Date: 07-04-04 14:23
Kody lets his eyes stray from where the quaffle is to where Emma soars far overhead. Even a week later he's still bummed that he never asked Emma to go on the tunnel of love ride with him. Every time he'd approached her about it, including on Valentine's Day itself, Emma had not seemed to be in a good mood. The only consolation, if it could be call that, was that Drake never asked Ariana. He now claims he never was going to, that he told Kody he would only as a joke and as an effort to get Kody to ask Emma. Drake emphatically claims, "I do not like Ariana as anything but a friend!" Yeah, right. That's why in History of Magic yesterday Drake was doodling Arianan's name inside little hearts.
Kody's attention is swiftly brought back to the game as a bludger whizzes by so closely to his head one ear stings. His eyes track the bludger, its trajectory on a direct course for Ravenclaw's keeper and Drake is looking another direction, busy fending off another Slytherin goal attempt. Kody yells for Drake to duck but the warning reaches Drake a fraction of a second too late. Kody winces and cringes as the bludger makes full contact with one side of his friend's face.
Drake goes down, only saved from a hard crash on the ground by Professor Krum's quick thinking. Kody dives down and comes to a hovering stop with his feet just a quarter of an inch above the pitch. Professor Krum assesses Drake's unconscious form, shaking his head back and forth. A wave of one hand brings a couple of the other professors onto the pitch to assist. All Kody can do is watch as Drake's carried off the pitch, towards the castle.
At a signal, full play resumes, Ravenclaw down its keeper and with Fritz obviously not feeling his best. Kody does his best to cover the goals and play his position as a chaser but it's obvious that Ravenclaw's in for a rough game when within a minute, both Isolde Farnon and Mary Black have scored. His spirits steadily sinking, Kody tries to block out Bronwyn Dewhurst perky announcement of, "That's ten more for Slytherin! Slytherin leads 40 to Ravenclaw's 10!"
Cake Walk
Author: Pyrrhus
Date: 07-04-04 15:35
Watching the events at the other end of the pitch, Pyrrhus nearly falls off his own broom. He's laughing that hard at Ravenclaw losing its keeper. Last game they played they ended up short a beater and a chaser and now this! Py settles back on his broom, watching in glee as his teammates swarm around the opposite goals and the Ravenclaw chasers desperately trying to get the quaffle even to the midpoint of the pitch. "That booth last week at the carnival wasn't a cake walk. This is the cake walk." Py sniggers, wishing he had a closer view.
Downhill Fast
Author: Ariana Maison
Date: 07-05-04 00:35
Ariana cringed as she watched Drake go down. This game was going downhill for her team...and they were goin downhill fast! Taking a moment to shoot a death glare at who had hit Drake with the bludger, she turned back to the game.
It was going to be easy, Ariana knew, because without a keeper they were gonna have a hard time with defense. Waiting for a chance at the quaffle, she found one and took it. If they were gonna go down, it was going to be without a fight.
Blocking
Author: Coco Nutt
Date: 07-05-04 07:29
Seeing Ariana grab the quaffle and start down the pitch with it, Coco shoots after her. Coco hears rather than sees one bludger as it's sent on course to smack into Ariana. Coco goes low over her broom, her bat extended. If she doesn't time this right she'll end up hitting Ariana and the bludger will most likely get the chaser as well. With no time to adjust her broom to Ariana's level without risking a crash, Coco makes a shallow dive as she leans well to one side, the arm with the bat cocked back. Her eyes start to water as she keeps them from blinking, concerned that even blinking will screw up her timing. Holding her breath Coco moves the bat in a smooth arc, connecting with the bludger, sending it well away from Ariana. She blinks several times then begins searching for the spot the next bludger attack will come from while from behind the Slytherin chasers are making quite a ruckus to catch up with Ariana. Coco slows her broom slightly in an effort to help block them. Her teammate only needs a couple of more seconds to get in goal attempt position.
Down Defense
Author: Emma Crusher
Date: 07-05-04 08:32
Drake was out of the game. Slytherin was now so far ahead of Ravenclaw that the only way they would catch up is if they caught the snitch. There was no sign of the tiny, winged ball. Emma felt a strange sinking sensation. This game was not going well...
Kody seemed to be trying to cover the role of keeper and that of his own position. Had her task not been so important, Emma would have offered to help. It was because of this that they needed stand-ins. People who could, at very short notice, be brought in to replace fallen players. Then, poor Fritz, who was starting to look even worse than he had when the game started, could have gone to the hospital wing right away.
But they didn't, so they were just going to have to deal with their disadvantage.
Wait! Was that the snitch? Emma moved her broom forward, but the golden object disappeared just as soon as she had spotted it. It might very well have simply been the glint of someone's watch in the sun... or it might not have been...
Quidditch
Author: Tranquillina Aemilius

Tranquillina stood next to Roane, watching with baited breath, praying that Ravenclaw would win!
How Tranq loved Quidditch! Her mother, who had been on the team in her Hogwarts-days, had raised Tranquillina on Quidditch. Even her father, a muggle, was quickly dragged into the wonderful world of the game.
Cheering with the others, Tranq diverted her attention to back to the game.....
Beating
Author: Alexis Black
Date: 07-05-04 21:32
Alexis was feeling very pleased with herself for knocking out the Ravenclaw keeper. Thats what he gets, after all, for going up against Slytherin. They had no hope at all from the beginning. She was so thrilled she exchanged a passing high-five with Crispin.
She really had nothing against the Cooke boy, except that he seemed to have no mind of his own. How else would he be able to willingly follow Mary around all the time? But hey, he was a pretty good beater.
Speaking of beating, Nora had the quaffle under one arm and was racing toward the now empty Ravenclaw goalposts with two blue-clad chasers and one bludger on her tail. Legally, Alexis could only take care of one of the three.
So she did.
She swooped in and managed to intercept the bludger, sending it spiraling toward one of the chasers instead, hoping with bated breath that she could take two Ravenclods out of the game.
It would just make the Slytherin's inevitable victory that much faster.
Crunch and Fall
Author: Ariana Maison
Date: 07-05-04 22:29
Taking possession of the quaffle, Ariana headed downfield towards the goals. When a bludger headed towards her, she forced herself not to think about it and just keep going. When it nearly reached the Ravenclaw chaser she closed her eyes waiting for it to hit, but it never came. Opening her eyes she took half a second to glance back...and made a mental note to thank Coco later.
Continuing on, Ariana got herself to the giant hoops. Noticing from the corner of her eye a black blur coming at her, she through the quaffle has hard as she could. A split second later she felt a sharp pain in her right leg and heard a crunch. Then found herself falling towards the ground.
Having landed really hard, but on her already broken leg, Ariana ignored the stabbing pain in her leg. She took no time in pulling herself up and flew into the air on her broom silently smiling in hope.
From Bad to Worse
Author: Kody
Date: 07-06-04 08:36
Things just got worse. It's obvious to everyone that at the very least the bludger Ariana just took badly bruised her leg and at the worst broke it. The fall afterwards didn't help matters. Even though she's on her broom, Kody has doubts about whether she should remain in the game and if Ariana does, how useful or effective she'll be for the remainder of play.
Kody maneuvers his broom to intercept the person now in possession of the quaffle, that one-eyed Slytherin girl. He comes in on her blind side, literally, easily allowing him to sweep the quaffle from her grip. Just past the midpoint of the pitch, Kody passes the quaffle off to Martin Makepeace. With Coco and Fritz working hard to keep his path cleared, Makepeace successfully makes it to the goals.
Pyrrhus Fine has a determined look on his face as Martin prepares to shoot. The look turns to one of surprise when Fritz sends a bludger straight at Fine. The Slytherin keeper has two choices. Block Makepeace's shot but take a bludger in the stomach in the process or dive out of the way of the bludger but allow Makepeace to possibly score.
It looks at though Fine's chosen to take the bludger if it means keeping Ravenclaw from scoring but in the time it takes to blink, Fine swerves, just barely missing the bludger, his fingers only glancing off the quaffle as Makepeace throws it.
Kody has something to grin about as he hears Bronwyn Dewhurst announce, "Makepeace scores for Ravenclaw! Slytherin 40, Ravenclaw 20!"
Hide & Seek
Author: Draco Malfoy
Date: 07-06-04 12:23
After Makepeace scored for Ravenclaw, Pyrrhus threw the quaffle at Isolde. She sped across the sky with it, flanked by Mary and Nora and with the opposing chasers hot on her tail. Since the Ravenclaw hoops were unmanned, Slytherin had the potential to score again and again and again with little opposition from the other side. And it was only a matter of minutes before Isolde scored for the team.
"Farnon scores again!" Dewhurst cried out. She pushed the brass key for Slytherin on the scoreboard, which now read Slytherin 50, Ravenclaw 20.
Meanwhile, Draco continued to search for the elusive snitch. It still hadn't presented itself to him, and as far as he could tell Emma hadn't seen it yet either... or had she? She started for a brief second, brow furrowed as she scrutinized the scene, but then she relaxed again and turned tail to look somewhere else.
Draco soared off to the opposite end of the field, scanning up, down and everywhere in between for any glimmer of gold. Then he saw it. It fluttered behind the head of the little German boy, who looked paler by the minute, and then dashed up behind a wisp of low-hanging cloud. Draco darted for it.
Down below, Nora bopped the quaffle from the loose grip a Ravenclaw chaser had on it, sending the ball into Mary's arms. She made a 180 degree turn and then sped towards the Ravenclaw hoops. The German boy attempted to stop her by way of a bludger but his aim was off and it went well past her head without disturbing the air around her. Mary made a beeline for the left-most hoop, and with one solid toss sent the quaffle straight through the middle of it.
"Black scores! Slytherin leads 60, to Ravenclaw's 20."
Not Again!
Author: Coco Nutt
Date: 07-06-04 15:33
Although her team is down forty points, Coco feels jubilant just to be flying at such swift speeds. She dashes after Makepeace who once again has the quaffle, lobbing a bludger into Mary Black's path. Climbing rapidly to intercept the other bludger, Coco sends it spinning on a direct course for Isolde Farnon. Crispin Cooke is spot on though to send that very same bludger towards Makepeace. Fritz tries to get there before it hits but is a heartbeat too slow. The bludger connects with Martin's left upper arm. The very arm which cradles the quaffle. Or cradled rather as it now is dropping toward the pitch. Farnon easily stops its fall and like a flash of lightening streaks across the pitch. From the stands they all hear, "Farnon scores again! Slytherin now leads 70 to 20!"
Yep. Again. And Again, and Probably Again.

Mary cackled insanely with glee as she looked quickly to make sure Krum was distracted before she ran her shoulder straight into a Ravenclaw chaser, knocking her off course and nabbing the quaffle mid-maneuver. The move was greeted with a chorus of angry boos and hisses, but Mary simply grinned and darted off with the red ball, tossing it to Nora who threw it back before it could get stolen.
She swerved around a determined looking chaser in blue and tossed the ball languidly through one of the unguarded hoops.
"And another ten points by Mary Black, making the score eighty-twenty to Slytherin!" The astonished voice of the announcer called. Mary pumped a fist victoriously in the air and grinned at Nora, who returned the gesture and the smile.
Nothing like creaming a bunch of Ravenclods to forget about petty rivalry, after all.
