Transfiguration Class
Author: Hermione Granger

Harry, Ron, and Hermione finished up their breakfasts and followed the throng of students exiting the Great Hall.
"What do you think Transfiguration class will be like this year?" Harry asked as the trio elbowed their way through the thick crowd.
Ron shrugged, "Same as last year I suppose."
"No, absolutely not," Hermione said, shaking her head. "The class will be more difficult, since we are learning more advanced transfigurations."
Harry and Ron rolled their eyes and followed Hermione up the stairs. They soon found themselves outside the Transfiguration classroom, which was filling steadily with Gryffindor and Ravenclaw students. Hagrid, seated in the first row, towered over the other students who sat around him. Looking towards the door, he gave a little wave when the Gryffindor trio appeared. They all found seats next to him and eagerly waited for Professor McGonagall to arrive.

After scurrying down to the dungeon, plowing past Peeves whom was trying to make the other students be late by doing his somersaults, I grabbed a seat between Doug and Vicentio Baker (a Hufflepuff). Professor Snape took roll call, and began class.
"*You are to learn the subtle science and exact art of potion-making. As there is little foolish wand-waving here, many of you will hardly believe this is magic. I don't expect you will really understand the beauty of the softly simmering cauldron with its shimmering fumes, the delicate power of liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind, ensnaring the senses....I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even stopper death - if you aren't a big bunch of dunderheads as I usually have to teach.*" Snape said.
"Mr. Lostark, it is to my understanding you have only gotten D's in Potions when you were in Cowboils." He snarled at me. "Yessir, I've been only successful at making stink bombs." "Stink bombs? Pop quiz! Take out a piece of paper and your quills!" Snape said writing on the blackboard.

"Out of my way...Please!"
Lilah clumsily pushed her way through the hall of first years, who were left knocked against the wall and dazed after their encounter. It was already late into the morning when Lilah finally got out of bed and she spent more time searching around for her schedule before she can run to class. She wriggled through the last of the crowded corridors and finally came to a halt before the door of her destination. The rest of the hall was empty other than a few people struggling to get a door open at the other end of the hall.
Lilah clumsily yanked the door open and darted in before the bell (she hoped) would ring.
"Well!" A voice greeted her just as the bell rang outside the class. "I see you made it just in time!"
Lilah looked up and saw the Professor smiling shyly at her.
"Ah... Hi?" Lilah managed to say before finally making her way toward a seat next to Adam.
"You're late." He whispered before the Professor could turn their way.
"Well, I only got up at 7:50! And besides, "Lilah said tugging at her book. "I didn't know we had a new professor."
"Well, we do!"
"Ugh! Another name to remember!"
What Happened,
Ancient Runes 8-9am Gryffindor and Ravenclaw
Author: Adam Higginton-Smythe
Date: 12-27-01 01:53
Adam sat down reluctantly in the seat he had sat in only awhile before. His blue grass colored eyes followed Professor Christina Sorcha across the classroom as she prepared for the students to arrive and to commence her freshman year as teacher. She glanced back once innocently, only to reassure herself that Adam was still within the same room. The glance became quickly a gaze as she met his fixated eyes like two aquamarine beryl gems sparkling in the dusty sunlight. She opened her mouth to speak, but her throat dried as if the air escaped suddenly for freedom. She was paralyzed with confusion and felt Adam was in a similar state. Under the stream of misty sunlight sat Adam. His arms were folded across each other and his chin rested upon his uppermost arm. Some of his lengthy blond hair cast a shadow over his handsome face, but the sunlight caught the correct angle of his eyes and they suddenly burst into a dazzling crystal blue deepness.
Christina's eyes blinked as she heard the muffled voices from the corner and hurriedly glanced over at the wide-eyed faces of her students. They had seen nothing the two saw, only what was happening between them. Her mind squealed with a rush of excitement and she jumped with shock in her confusion. "Come students! Please sit down where you will find yourself most comfortable. Class will begin when everyone has arrived." Christina rebelliously took another glance at Adam in front of her. She almost feared she would be numbed again, but instead there sat Adam with his head turned at the window with downward, ashamed eyes. They slowly swam back to Christina and in an instant her suspicions were crushed. It wasn't some spell of someone's, his at least, he looked extremely confused and his cheeks were flushed crimson with embarrassment. The class about them was silent except for the whispers that sounded like crickets on a soft, summer night that always keep a sleepless person awake. The eyes of the students were on the both of them. Christina forced confusion from her face.
"Welcome everyone to Ancient Runes, I am Professor Sorcha," she turned and wrote her name on the board, "this is Gryffindor and Ravenclaw fourth years correct?" Adam was the only person to nod among the many silent, smug faces. The following silence was luckily interrupted by a freckle-faced student who jumped from her seat and sped toward the door with her books. Christina began to feel her throat well up as she turned back to the unmoved class. "Umm, today we are simply going to go about the room and introduce ourselves to each other as I do not know any of your faces, and I hear you will be getting enough work in one... err, some of your other classes anyways. Who would like to volunteer to start us off?"
The classroom was silent as everyone shot know-it-all expressions between the teacher and Adam. Lilah Baldwyn had sat down next to Adam and began to shift her seat away a little to get out from under the stares. Adam stood up, "I am Adam Higginton-Smythe, Ravenclaw." The class began to whirl with sounds of movement and unrestrained giggles. Christina choked as she replied, "A pleasure to meet you... A-Adam. Umm, who's next?"
The rest of the class gradually stood up and gave their names' and houses'. The murmurs and stares did not cease throughout the class though, instead the students came braver and began to point between the two. Adam was the first to jump up as the class ended, beads of sweat had begun to roll down his back and forehead. Christina sat down at her desk and sat her head in her hand for support.
Rumor
Author: Dr. Armageddon Endikut
Date: 12-27-01 01:55
"I heard Professor Sorcha and Professor Endkuit are married," a first year whispered to another. "I heard Professor Endkuit and Professor Sorcha are expecting," said a 5th year to another. "I heard Professor Sorcha and Professor Endkuit were..." started a seventh year to his friend. True, I did find Professor Sorcha attractive, ok, very attractive. But, one, she's half my age, two, we haven't even had a date yet, let alone, did things in a closet.
This was a bit annoying and embarrassing. I ran into Professor Sorcha, and she was also flustered. "I'm sorry about the rumors. I'll try something to maybe fuel the rumors a little then show them how silly rumors are," I said, and she smiled. One student, a Slytherin named Lucretia Newton, was already in class while the others were spreading rumors. "Two points to Slytherin." Before I started class I muttered loud enough for the students to hear, "I still don't see why Christina would decide to have the hyphen," I said, then snickered. "Sorcha-Endikut, sounds like around the end of cute," I said. The students in my first class started buzzing about what I just said.
"Peter Allen," I started. The students were still buzzing. "PETER ALLEN!" I said as a Slytherin boy said here. "Minus two points Slytherin," I said.

She nods grinning, "I adore Quidditch. I love practice. I think I'm going crazy, but hey, that's what I get for hanging out with you!"
She laughs, ducking a swipe from Aradia then coming up on the other side of her, "How'd you like your classes today?"

I take a mock-swipe at Cho. "If I'm crazy, then it's because I keep getting knocked over by Sykra!!! Speaking of Quiddicth, where is our fearless leader? He was threatening to send bludgers after US if we were late! Maybe we should send bludgers after HIM!"
Wandering
Around the Castle
Author: Aoife Wright
Date: 12-27-01 02:14
Aoife wandered the castle muttering to herself. She had no idea where her class was, Transfiguration, and hadn't found anyone to ask directions. The bell had already rung and she knew she was late.
She walked over to a painting and asked where her class was. The painting pointed off in a direction down the hall. Aoife walked in the direction and stood outside large doors and sighed.
"Here goes nothing." she muttered and opened the door quietly.
Transfiguration
8-9am Gryffindor and Ravenclaw
Author: Minerva McGonagall
Date: 12-27-01 03:54
As McGonagall entered her classroom, she walked right up the aisle with desks aligning each side. The students were arriving and taking their seats, as McGonagall turned around once she got to the front of the classroom, and looked over the sea of Gryffindor and Ravenclaw fifth years.
A large wheeled chalkboard stood to her left, and her desk, right behind her, papers covering the wood surface as usual. She watched at the last bit of students took their seats, then glanced to a girl with bushy brown hair who was sitting in the front, smiling at her.
Hermione Granger was one of McGonagall's best students. She always had her homework done at least a week early, and would read through the textbooks before she started the new term. A bright girl, that one.
"All right, class. It is wonderful to have you all back this term, and I trust you will be doing well in your studies." McGonagall paused, her eyes scanning the students faces.
"Today, we will start with chapter one of your book. Please open them, and find this chart," She turned to the chalk board, wrote down a few notes and sketched out a small picture from the new chapter of the Transfiguration books.
Getting Some
Exercise
Author: Prof. Sorcha
Date: 12-27-01 04:12
Sorcha leaves her class and starts to wander the hallways near her class. She is slightly unnerved by the way some of the students stop talking when she nears them, then the sudden whispers behind.
She turns a corner and sees a girl lying on the floor and a boy about the same age leaning over her, they are nose to nose.
Sorcha takes a step closer and recognizes the girl on the floor. "Samantha Thatcher?"
"Christina?! Chistina Sorcha!" The boy let her up, and she gave her friend a big hug. "How are you?! I 'aven't seen yeh fer a long while!"
"I'm great Sam!" Sorcha smiled. "Where are you headed? I need to get back to my Runes class."
"Runes class? I 'ave that at nine!"
"Do you? Great! It's in between classes right now. You want walk with me back to class?" Sorcha asked a little relieved to find some one that she knew here.
Samantha smiled. "Sure! We could catch on lost time."
"What about your boyfriends here? Do they have Runes class as well?" Sorcha grinned.
"M' boyfriends?" Sammi laughed. "No, but they were takin' me there. Bein' new an' all." Sammi winked. "Yeh don' mind do you Fred? George?"
The two smiled. "No, no, go ahead Sam." One of them said.
"Yeah, we'll meet ya in 'erbology erm, well at the Runes classroom at ten."
"Right-o! Thanks you guys." Sammi smiled again. "Cheerio!"
The two boys waved, and headed off in another direction.
"Well, it looks like one of them likes you. Who are they?" Sorcha asked as Sammi went with her back to the Runes class.

I am most excited for this class and arrive well ahead of most students. I take a seat at the front of the class along with some other Ravenclaws. I wave to Hermione when she walks in . . . about two second after I do.
The professor walks in and greets the class. I recognised her as the one who greeted the students before the Feast. I open our textbook to chapter one, as instructed, and prepare to take notes.
Late Again
Author: Aoife Wright
Date: 12-27-01 06:29
Opening the door, quietly, to her Transfiguration class Aoife walked in slowly. She looked up at the teacher standing at the front of the room.
"Sorry I'm late Professor." she said. "I won't let it happen again. I couldn't find the class that's all."
A couple snickers came from the class in front of her. Biting her lower lip she sat at a desk in the back of the classroom.
Late Comers
Author: Minerva McGonagall
Date: 12-27-01 08:09
A young girl wanders into the Transfiguration classroom a bit late. McGonagall closed her eyes and inhaled to keep her temper. She did not like late students to her classes. She was about to deduct points when the small girl spoke.
"Sorry I'm late, Professor. I won't let it happen again. I couldn't find the class that's all." Her voice quivered a bit as she spoke.
"That is all right, Miss....?"
"Wright, Professor. Aoife Wright."
"That is all right, Miss Wright. Just do not let it happen again. If you need help finding a class, ask one of the other students you see in the hallway. Thank you."
And McGonagall turned back to the chalkboard. She heard a few snickers as the young girl quietly took her seat.
"That's enough of that. Will someone please show Miss Wright where we are in our book? Thank you. Now, Hermione, will you read the next paragraph aloud, please?"
Hermione nodded, and began reading aloud.
Potions 8-9am
Author: Prof. Snape
Date: 12-27-01 08:23
Snape watched as the class took out their quills and parchment. "Now, I want you all to write down the ingredients I give you and write down on your parchment what potion they make. Understand!" Snape snapped.
The class nodded. "Good. Number one!" snarled Snape. "What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?" The room was filled with sounds of scribbling quills.
"Number two! Where would you look if I told you to find me a bezoar? Last Question!" The class fell silent.
"What is the difference between monkshood and wolfsbane? Finish writing and turn in your parchments!" said Snape.

I listen to the Professor Snape's speech, a little unsure of what to expect from him. He seems to be doubting our ability and potential. However, I politely listen then take out the quills and parchment for a pop quiz.
The Plot Thickens
Author: Ron Weasley
Date: 12-27-01 10:49
Ron was in a pleasant mood as the first day of school rolled around. He was making progress on Hermione's birthday present, which she was sure to love, and made friends with Sam, a wonderfully funny transfer student. Ron felt like this was finally going to be his year.
Harry, Hermione, and Ron sat silently through Transfiguration. Ron had almost forgotten how boring Professor McGonagoll could be, especially with such an exciting subject. But just as he was about to drift off, Hermione stealthy passed him a note.
Hermione.
Passed a note.
To Ron.
In class.
Ron shook his head in disbelief. Hermione would never ever pass notes during a class. What if she missed something important in those two or three seconds in which her mind was occupied elsewhere? Where would she be then? Ron glanced over at Harry, who seemed unaware of what was going on. Hmmm, thought Ron, Harry didn't get a note. I wonder...
But Ron's thoughts were interrupted by a firm kick from under the desk. Hermione gave Ron a sharp look and whispered "read it" in a tone that implied he was taking too long.
Ron,
I'm worried about Harry. He hasn't been himself lately and he seems hesitant
to let me know what's going on. Any thoughts? You can reach him better than
anyone.
Hermione
Ron's heart sank. Great, she's just using me for inside information! But as he thought back over the weekend, Ron realized he didn't have a clue as to what was bothering Harry. In fact, Ron had made himself quite scarce the entire weekend, working endlessly on the perfect present for a perfect prefect.
Ripping off a corner of paper, Ron began to pen his response. But just as he began writing he glanced over at Harry and happened to catch his best friend looking quite pale.
A burning pain shot through Harry's scar, so sudden that he fell out of his chair. Professor McGonagall rushed to his side as panicked murmurs filled the classroom.
Meanwhile, a smartly dressed young woman pulled her luggage out of the overhead compartment of a 757.
Adriana Fairchild had just arrived in London.
And somehow, Harry knew.
History of
Magic 8-9am Hufflepuff and Gryffindor
Author: Prof. Binns
Date: 12-27-01 16:39
Professor Binns rhymthed his shaky voice with an uncharacteristical pleasure as he began the first day of his impressive teaching career, as he believed it to be. He spoke to the class of the brilliant passages and inquiries into the history of our ancestry and most inspiring moments in time. He also spoke, with some interest from the class, of the new teaching outline he would be following. The second years would be receiving medieval history of Britain the entire year, allowing for an in depth look at the makings and events of the British isles during the dreaded dark ages of the Muggles, how exciting!

Snape snapped at me. I am hoping my next class would be better, but something told me I may be lucky to eat lunch at noon.
