On the Davenport

Adam laughed with an annoying repetition at Lilah's joke (he honestly didn't find it funny). The Ravenclaw common room was practically deserted as everybody was exploring or had gone to the Pitch to observe the practices. Adam returned with serious bone chills and found Lilah waking hours late having just gotten dressed. She was sitting on the davenport opposite the roaring fireplace. Adam was flopped horizontally with his head in her lap and his feet resting on the other end of the davenport. He was becoming suffocated in a tight blanket, which seemed to be tightening about him every time he moved. Heat seemed to in short supply that morning.

"Shut up!" Lilah tugged on his hair she had been playing with, "You sound like an ass."

"A great big one." Adam studied her face, her sparkled eyes and pleasant face. His face wrinkled suddenly, "Oy! Look at that great big bugger! The nastiest lil' big bugger I've ever seen. Right up straight in that big 'airy nose of yours!"

"You fib. Shut your mouth." Lilah sneered at him after smacking herself right in the face to conceal her nose. He laughed his repetitious fake laugh again. He paused noticing a change in her look. She had frozen and a tiny, mysterious smile passed over as if in a sudden ecstasy.

"What?" Adam crossed his face and his greenish blue eyes began frantically search her face for a centimeter of truth for her change. "What is it?" His head lifted from her lap suddenly. At the same time Lilah's head began to move toward him and his wide-open eyes. Their eyes met and locked suddenly and Adam sensed a sudden, wild passion in her. "Lilah, are you going to kiss me?"

"You are so handsome Adam, just relax." Her lips began moving straight for his, and Adam couldn't help but to let a weak, confused smile cross his face. Her lips came closer, then closer, then closer, until...

"Heh! Stop! Knock it... ow!" Lilah jammed her elbow into his innocent ribs. He grabbed her arm and twisted it away from his abdominals, "Bloody hell Lilah, what you do that for!?"

"You're such a guy Adam, what a guy you are." Lilah smirked with a look of victory. Adam looked very crossly at her. "Oh come on, you deserved it. Don't be so sore." Adam looked away at the fire, somewhat disappointed.

"ItŐs getting rather hot in here."

"Perhaps that fire is finally getting to you. Get rid of the blanket."

"No... it's not that. I'd say...I'd say you lit my fire."

Lilah jumped upward and shoved the laughing Adam onto the floor with a thud, "Get 'ff!"

She yawns, sitting in a chair, not even amused at Adam and Lilah's display. She sighs, standing and deciding she needed air, she ran upstairs and got her broom. Heading straight for the Pitch, smiling and being polite as she could when bored.

Owl Post
Author: Dierna ní Cíaran
Date: 12-25-01 06:01

Dierna rereads her letter and seals it. She walks over to the owl post (Since she doesn't have an owl of her own yet, just a cat who goes out of its way to be annoying) and has the letter sent to Prof. Dumbledore at Hogwarts.

Being so close it will not take long to arrive. Meanwhile, there is no lack of things for the young Auror to do. She pays the very small delivery fee and heads home to prepare for her new mission.

Soon her real challenge will begin, and Dierna is ready. VERY ready.

Monday Morning
Author: Isolde
Date: 12-24-01 20:27

Isolde groaned and rolled over, stuffing a pillow over her ears. "What time is it?" she croaked, hardly able to open her eyes.

"It's 6:30," Azaelia whispered, kicking the covers off of her. "Why did we have to select Divination for one of our electives?" she whined, climbing out of bed slowly.

Isolde rolled out of bed and thumped on the floor. Rubbing her nose as she sat up she said, "To make fun of Professor Trelawney."

"Couldn't we make fun of her without taking the class?" Azaelia asked, slipping into a bathrobe.

Isolde snapped, "Whatever." Secretly, she truly enjoyed the class. Indeed, she thought it was just as much bologna as the next person did, but for amusement purposes, the class was quite good.

The cousins headed off to the bathroom, which was crowded with other Slytherin girls who oddly seemed more awake than both Azaelia and Isolde felt. Clara and Tempest were among those girls. They stood in front of the mirrors, animatedly discussing Draco Malfoy.

"Somebody has a crushy-wushy on Draco-waco," Isolde sneered as she headed towards a stall.

Clara looked up and grinned evily, "As if you don't know anything about crushes, Isolde."

Azaelia giggled from the neighboring stall.

"Can it, you guys," Isolde said as she exited the stall.

The girls returned to their discussion of Malfoy and his charms while Azaelia and Isolde hit the showers. Azaelia began to belt out 'All by Myself' as soon as she turned on the water.

A few minutes later, the girls returned to their dorm all squeaky clean. They found their dormmates to be still sleeping.

"You see, they knew better than to take an 8 AM class on a Monday of all days," Azaelia said rather loudly, as she began to change into her robes.

The three sleeping girls stirred, but remained more or less asleep.

Isolde grinned and raised her voice, "You think you could be any louder, Lia?"

"Shut the hell up," said a muffled voice from one of the four-posters.

Isolde and Azaelia laughed and finished getting dressed. They gathered their Divination and Transfiguration books together and headed off to the Great Hall to get some breakfast.

Something Troubling
Author: Hermione Granger
Date: 12-24-01 20:39

Hermione bounded down the stairs and found Harry sitting in front of the Gryffindor fireplace. He was sitting there alone, with a look upon his face that suggested he was lost in thought. Taking a deep breath, Hermione crossed the room and stopped before him.

"Hi Harry," she said softly.

Harry frowned, not meeting her gaze, "Hi Hermione. Shouldn't you be leading the first years to breakfast?"

"They can get there themselves," Hermione replied, taking a seat next to him. "Something is troubling you..."

"Of course something's troubling me," Harry snapped.

Hermione gulped, "It's because I'm prefect, isn't it?"

"No. Yes. Well, no. Not exactly."

Hermione sighed and shook her head, "You're not making sense, Harry."

"Just don't worry about it, Hermione. You don't need to concern yourself with my problems." Harry got to his feet and walked closer to the fireplace.

"I'm your friend, Harry. You can talk to me, you know that, don't you?"

Harry sighed, staring into the ashes that lay on the base of the fireplace. "I know, Hermione. I know," he said, placing his right hand on the mantle. "We can talk about this later. We will talk about this later." He removed his hand from the mantle and turned around, finally meeting her eyes.

"Promise?" Hermione asked.

The corners of Harry's mouth formed what could have been taken for an extremely small fraction of a smile. "I promise."

Hermione smiled back, and stretched her neck to get a view of the stairs. "Where's Ron?" she asked, turning her gaze back to Harry.

He shrugged, "He said he'd be right down. Mumbled something about having to get some work done on some kind of project. He's been a little secretive lately. I haven't an idea why."

Hermione shrugged, unable to think of what Ron could be up to. Finally, after a few moments, Ron came downstairs. "Good morning!" he exclaimed, smiling big.

"How come you're all cheery this morning, Ron?" Hermione asked, getting to her feet.

Ron grinned and motioned for them to follow him out of the common room, "It's the first day of school. The first day of our fifth year. It's going to be great!"

Harry and Hermione smiled and followed Ron to the Great Hall where other eager students were already filling up on breakfast.

Sore on a Monday

"Ugh, being towed all over Hogwarts by Fang really was troublesome," I said to Doug heading for breakfast being thankful Cousin Hagrid caught Neville and I in mid-air to save us. "Hagrid sure was thankful you and Neville were ok," Doug said. "I know next time I'm leaving Bucky in the dorm room," I said. Neville was still a bit shaken up. "Hi, Neville are you ok?" I asked. Neville just ate his breakfast. "I'm sorry about what Fang did, I promise to keep Bucky in my dorm room," I said. Just then the Monday morning mail came.

Top of the Morning 'Charms'
Author: Clara Devaki
Date: 12-24-01 23:01

Clara rolled her eyes at Isolde then went back to her conversation with Tempest. "That girl." She laughed then leaned and whispered, "Have ya seen the looks Py has been giving her?"

Tempest grinned. "Yup. Heh heh." Tempest glanced towards the cousins. "Would make a rather nice couple, no?"

Clara laughed. "Perhaps...well shall we grab a bite to eat before class?"

"Yeah, what do we have first?"

"I dunno." Clara replied. "Probably Charms or something...with Flitwick sounds like fun, ay? The two girls rolled their eyes and headed for the Great Hall for breakfast and their schedules.

8:00-9:00 am Charms

They looked at each other and rolled their eyes. "When do we have potions?" Tempest asked.

"Tomorrow 'n' Thursday..." Clara scanned the schedule and sighed as owls swooped in from overhead. "Why hello there my lil devilish Calixte!" She patted her powerful owl and took the package containing sweets from home.

Tempest shook her head, patting her own owl as she took her package, also containing sweets from home. "Oh well." They finished up their breakfast. "Guess we should head for Charms now, huh?

"Yeah..." They got up, gave their owls a treat before they took off, made sure they had their supplies for charms, and headed for class.

Re: First Day, First Class, New Teacher
Author: Prof. Sorcha
Date: 12-24-01 23:17

Sorcha walked into her classroom followed by Ailsa. When the door opened Sorcha saw a student sitting in a chair in the front row. After a brief pause, Ailsa walked in thought the door first. The student stood up in surprise when he caught a glimpse of the bird staring at him.

Sorcha had to move around Ailsa to get into the class. She walked over to the desk and put down some books she was carrying. Then she glanced over at the student, who was still staring back at Ailsa.

"Umm, Hi. It's not a good idea to stare at her like that. She might think you're challenging her. Oh, umm, what is your name?"

"Adam." He looked away from Ailsa and looked over to Sorcha. She was placing a place for Ailsa to perch while in the class.

"Well, Adam, why don't you come with me and get some breakfast? Then we can come back here and start class."

"Sure. What about that?" Adam asked pointing at Ailsa.

"Oh, she is staying here. She has already eaten."

Adam and Sorcha left Ailsa in the class and went to the Great Hall for breakfast.

G'Mornin'!!
Author: Sykra Sawyer
Date: 12-24-01 23:29

"G'mornin!!!!!" Sykra ran into the Great Hall and slid into her seat, slamming into Cho, who slammed into Aradia, knocking her on the floor. "Uh...sorry 'bout dat..." Sykra gave a cheeky grin.

Aradia stood up and glared at Sykra as she sat back down. "What is with you knocking people over?" She then laughed.

"Sykra, try not to knocking anything over in History of Magic today, alright?" Cho handed Sykra her schedule. "Ohh Look! Mail!" The girls looked up to see the owls flying in.

Sykra smacked Cho and tooked her schedule as they began dropping packages. "YAY! That's the only class I have ta day!" She grinned as an snowy white owl landed and started to nibble on her breakfast. "Kenawne!!" Sykra, much to the owl's dismay, hugged her.

"She lets you hug her?" Aradia looked at Sykra and Kenawne in shock. "She looks liked she'd bite you or something."

Both Cho and Sykra laughed. "Are you kidding?" Cho shook her head. "That owl ADORES Sykra..!"

"Yup!" Sykra said. "'N' I don' normally get mail...but she comes ta visit me anyways." She added while petting her white friend.

"Oh..!" Cho looked at the time. "We should probably head for class...!"

"Yeah that would be good." Aradia began gathering her stuff. "Don't wanna be late on the first day!" She said bye to her to friends and headed for class.

"Well...guess we gotta go to..!" Sykra and Cho gathered their things, and after bidding Kenawne goodbye, headed for class.

Monday's Breakfast
Author: Dr. Armageddon Endikut
Date: 12-24-01 23:48

After a good weekend reading records and looking for my list on locations of the deamon amulets in vain, I sat down for Monday breakfast. I said hello to the other professors, then I saw a young, very beautiful woman enter the room with a student. The student went to the Ravenclaw table and the woman sat at the head table. "Hello, I'm Dr. Armageddon Endikut. My freinds call me Arm or Ed. I'm the Dark Arts Teacher," I said with a grin. "Hello Dr. Endikut. I'm Professor Sorcha. I teach Runes," she said in a gentle manner. "Pardon me, but you are beautiful," I said as she blushed.

1st Deliveries
Author: Owl Post
Date: 12-25-01 02:30

As the morning meal progressed the air was suddenly filled with the sounds of flapping wings and screeching owls. The first mail deliveries of the school year.

One of the first owls to arrive delivered a letter to Samantha, who looked puzzled to be receiving something. Of course, a parcel was dropped for Neville. It seemed he was always being sent some item he had left behind on the first full day of school. Hermione's Daily Prophet arrived and she placed some coin in the owls pouch and quickly began to scan the articles. Dr. Endikut also received a Daily Prophet which he promptly paid for..

Prof. Dumbledore received a letter, which made his eyes sparkle more so than usual, It read;

Dear Professor Dumbledore,

It has become alarmingly obvious to me that the Dark Forces are once again rising in power, and that The Dark Lord is returning. It is also apparent that the Minister of Magic either will not, or cannot, accept this fact and is turning a dangerously blind eye to the problem. I have heard you are looking for people to actively side with you against this returning threat. Please consider me an ally. I will do what I may to turn the tide of these dark times. I cannot - WILL NOT - let the past repeat itself. Currently, I live in Hogsmeade, conveniently close to you. I am here to do what I can. Together, we can once again defeat the Dark Forces.

Regards, your ally, always,

Dierna ní Cíaran, Auror

Prof. Dumbledore folded up the letter and placed it in his robes, and let the feeling of happiness inside him radiate out to fill the room. Even Prof. Snape felt warm inside and almost smiled.

Various Owls of differing sizes delivered all kinds of Packages and letters. But one was of enormous size. Everyone watched as it circled overhead. The giant owl was carrying a box that seemed to shake vehemently. Air holes in its sides announced a living creature as its contents, one that was not used to flying. As it slowly descended the Howler message attached to it erupted before it could be delivered.

"CHRISTEPHOR FARLY LOSTARK! HOW COULD YOU FORGET YOUR GIFT TO COUSIN HAGRID! DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH IT COSTS TO USE THE BIG OWL! LONG DISTANCE?"

The noise startled the owl and it dropped the box directly into Lostark's lap, the entire hall burst into laughter.

Hedwig flew in just as the noise was settling down and gently landed on Harry's shoulder. The boy's face lit up and Hedwig nuzzled his cheek. She hooted softly and Harry replied, "I missed you too," at which point she proudly stuck her leg out with it's coiled up message attached. Harry released the note and sent Hedwig off to the Owlery. All the note contained was a picture. He held his wand over it and the message appeared.

Harry! Beware of strange gifts! Hagrid was recently attacked at Diagon Alley, Padfoot

And as quick as it started, it was all over. Except for the noise.

Embarrassed
Author: Adam Higginton-Smythe
Date: 12-25-01 03:50

Adam walked limp-armed towards the Ravenclaw table as he separated from Professor Sorcha. Lilah glanced up at him as he approached, she started laughing.

"Well sunshine! Got your classes done for the day already?"

"Shut it Lilah!" Adam hissed at her as he sat down and looked at his lap, "Wouldn't have killed you to wake me up this morning."

"You looked wide awake to me. How was I supposed to know that that hurried haste of yours was because you thought you were late for class. You were rather funny to watch."

"I feel really embarrased right now... but... err... could you pass the bread?"

A Knockout Start to the Day
Author: Aradia Forest
Date: 12-25-01 05:05

I am sitting at the Ravenclaw table when Cho and Sykra, my new friends, enter. Cho has just sat down when Sykra comes sliding after her - and right into her. Cho in turn, knocks me over. Chagrined, Sykra simply covers up by saying "Ah. Sorry about dat!" Trying (unsuccessfully) to act angry I ask, "What is with you knocking people over?" Then I laugh. Cho pleads with Sykra NOT to knock anything over in History of Magic.

It's then the owls arrive. HUNDREDS of them . . . swooping down to deliver messages to the recipients. The Headmaster looks especially pleased at one letter. His pleasure at whatever it says is tangible and enhances my already good mood. I see Sykra hugging her owl delightedly. "Your owl lets you HUG him?" I'm shocked. "If I ever tried that with Solas (my owl) she'd give me a good wrap (or peck) on the head!"

Before I know it breakfast is over and I am hurrying to my first class, filled with anticipation and excitement.
