A Decision

Having the grubworm hit him leaves a bad taste in Pyrrhus's mouth, literally and figuratively. Through narrowed eyes he glares at the backs of both Hermione and Majandra, or as he likes to refer to his sister whom he views as a major pest, Horklump*. As far as that Mudblood Granger goes, her only significance is she's one of Potter's friends. If not for Potter, she'd just be a frizzy haired know-it-all with a freakish fondness for studying.
As he stares as the girls, Pyrrhus concludes that at some point during the school year he'll get them both back. He simply needs to be patient in working out a plan. Once he's got something formulated, it's just a matter of finding the perfect time to put that plan into action.
*The Horklump is a rather pesky creature which resembles a pinkish mushroom covered with bristles. Horklumps are considered a garden pest. They are the favorite food of Gnomes.

She glanced over at the Ravenclaw table and saw that everyone was a little annoyed. Snickering she went back to her food...
"This is fun..." Samantha sighed. As she moved her fork around with her food it became stuck on something. Samantha pulled a little harder... Harder...then suddenly it loosened and sent some food flying behind her toward the Slythrin table.
Moments later a silhouette appeared in front of her. Samantha's eyes widened a bit as she slowly looked over her shoulder and saw a rather large boy standing behind her, arms crossed glaring at her with a potato stained face.
Samantha chuckled. "Eh...Yeh got some'in on yer face," She pointed indicating where. "Righ'ere."
With that statement the boy was furious. He grabbed Samantha and flung her off the bench.
"What the 'ell yeh think yer doin'?!" She yelled.
The Slythirin scowled. "You threw potatoes at me! What'd ya think I'm doin?"
Samantha glared. "Let...Me...GO..." She said threw gritted teeth.
"Awww...Is that a threat sweet thang?" He grinned.
Samantha's mood darkened. "What did yeh call me?!"
His grin widened. "Why...I called you," He started but was interrupted...

Clara and Tempest looked at each other and smirked as points were taken from Ravenclaw. "Can you believe this?" Tempest said with an evil snicker. "They betta be careful...or they might as well just hand over the cup!" They laughed.
Clara snickered as she caught Ravenclaw Sykra Sawyer's eyes. They glared at each other. "Filthy mudblood.." She murmured to herself. The two girls had never been very friendly with each other. Sworn enemies as some would say. Clara gave Sykra once last unfriendly look then let her gaze travel a few people to her left and fall on one blonde-haired figured. She smiled. She couldn't get her eyes to leave him. He started to look her way when a voice snapped her back into reality.
"Clara. CLARA!"
"Wha?" She looked at Tempest. "Oh..sorr-wataya want?" She became her very pleasant self again.
"Just wondering why you had that look on ya face.." Tempest glared at her.
"Look?" Clara glared back. "I was just giving Sawyer a friendly smile!" She gave a wicked smile as Tempest laughed. They went back to their food, and every few minutes Clara would look back towards the blonde boy. But without letting her gaze stay there for fear Tempest would notice something.

"Why...I called you," He started, but was interrupted...
"Mr. Dole."
The boy looked up. "P...Professor Dumbledore sir...I...I..."
Dumbledore smiled. "This is no way to treat a lady Mr. Dole."
"But she threw potatoes at me sir. I don't even know her!" Dole argued.
Samantha yanked his hands off of her and protested. "As if I really meant ta do tha'! At least it's coverin' up that ugly face!!"
"That will be enough Miss Thatcher. Mr. Dole, wipe the food off your face and have a seat and remember I will not tolerate any fighting in this school. I won't be taking any points from either of you, considering this was an understandable mistake. Now, I suppose you all would like some dessert!" He clapped his hands and there before everyone was a table full of yummy desserts of every kind.
Dole gave Samantha one last glare before going back to his seat. Samantha smirked and took a seat as well. And Dumbledore went back to the teachers' table, anxious for some dessert!

Hermione swirled her fork in the pile of mashed potatoes on her plate as she quietly listened to the coversation Ron and Samantha were having. She couldn't help but notice how touchy-feely they were with one another. They had just met! Come on! She rolled her eyes and turned to Harry, who hadn't said much in the last few minutes.
"Harry, what are you thinking about?" she asked him, pushing the plate away from her.
He shrugged, a small smile creeping across his face. "Dessert would be nice!"
Hermione laughed, "I should have known."
As if on cue, the dessert bowls and platters appeared on the long dining tables. A great cheer erupted in the hall, and everyone began diving in.
The night grew late, and soon Dumbledore requested that all sing the school song to their own tunes. Hermione chose to sing to the tune of 'I've been workin' on the railroad', ending her song well before most of the other students had.
Then, McGonagall announced that first year students should follow their house prefects to the common rooms. The students would have the entire weekend to adjust to their new life at Hogwarts before classes start on Monday morning.
Hermione cleared her throat and started calling the first years to her. She turned to Samantha and stated flatly, "Samantha, why don't you latch on to some of the other seventh years. I'm sure Fred and George wouldn't mind showing you the ropes."
Ron and Harry looked at one another in disbelief. Even Majandra looked surprised.
"Hermione?" Ron began, uncertainly, "What are you doing?"
Hermione made a mental head count of the new Gryffindors before answering Ron's question, "I'm a prefect, Ron. I'm doing my job." She motioned for the newbies to follow her out of the Great Hall. "Now, why don't you two run along. I'll meet you in the common room."
She began leading the bright-eyed first years out of the hall, leaving the boys standing there dumbfounded.

Sykra glared at Clara Devaki a few moments longer, then looked a way when Aradia spoke. "Who's that girl?" She asked
"Oh Devaki?" Sykra replied. "Clara Devaki. She's a 5th year Slytherin. I can't stand her. Ever since her first year here. I woz a second year at the time. She comes from generations of Slytherins, so course she ended up there. She's awful to me since I'm Muggle born. Don' know why she picks me outta the rest but oh well." She shot a evil look towards Clara. "Watch out for her."
"Oh!" Aradia exclaimed. "Okay." She eyed Clara. "Is she anything like Draco Malfoy?"
"Oh...I'd say she woz a female version of him." Sykra said. "Though Malfoy would be worse, I think." She gave a mischievous smile. "I personally think the two would be perfect for each other!"
Aradia laughed. "A match made in...well...not heaven..."
"No definitely not..." They laughed. "But she'd have a bit of competition with Millicent!"
"Oh!" She grinned then glanced over towards the Gryffindor. "What the..?" Sykra looked over also. "Ohh...looks like Sammi has made a new friend!"
Sykra tried to smother a laugh. "Th...That's mean!" She started laughing.
"Sykra!" Cho broke in, laughing. "If that's so mean...why are you laughing?"
"I dunno..." She giggled. Aradia and Cho laughed at her as they watched Dumbledore take care of things. "Shame...there goes our entertainment..." Sykra gave a innocent smile.
"You are wicked!" Aradia told her.
Cho laughed. "Oh. Not as wicked as some people...just real close..." She grinned.
"HEY!!" Sykra laughed. "Be nice!"
"But why?" Cho asked. "Imagine if SAMMI found out..." She glanced at Aradia.
Sykra looked at them in shock. "You wouldn't!"
"I dunno..." Aradia smiled. "Sure might be fun to watch..."
"If you do...I'll...I'll..." She went back and forth looking at them. "Well...I dunno yet but something."
Aradia and Cho laughed at the look on Sykra's face as desert appeared. "Now now Sykra you just shush up and eat your dessert!" Cho shoved some into her face. "Aradia and I will have to think about this." Sykra glared at her two laughing friends as they began on their dessert. She wiped off her face and followed their suit, but with a small smile on her face; thinking of ways she could get them back even if they would work.

House We Go

Prof. Dumbledore stood up and made his last announcements, which were then followed by singing the school song. During this time Hannah prepared herself to lead the new students to Hufflepuff's common room and dorm. She was excited about being the prefect for the year and having the chance to be a leader.
As soon as George and Fred were finished singing their version of the school song the students were free to go. "Ok. Hufflepuff follow me!" called out Hannah raising her voice so that it would be heard over the voices of others in the hall.
The Ravenclaws walked out of the Great Hall with Hannah behind them leading the Hufflepuffs. Hannah led her group down a set of stairs and then up another. The new students were in awe of the complex system of staircases and the moving portraits that hung on the walls of the corridors.
As they made their way to the common room Hannah had to stop occasionally to regain the attention of a stunned straggler. "Please stay with the group. I don't need any of you getting lost."
Finally they arrived at a large portrait that hung at the end of a corridor. "Password?" asked the portrait.
"Offnen porfavor?," Hannah answered, and the portrait opened like a door revealing the entrance to Hufflepuff's common room.
Hannah turned to the group behind her and said, "Make sure that you remember that password. It is the only way to get into the House."
Once in the common room Hannah directed the girls and boys to their respective dormitories.
Singing a

"Now everyone choose your favorite song," Dumbledore said casting a spell that showed the words to the Hogwarts song. I sang to the tune of God Bless the U.S.A. mainly because it was the first song that came to mind. Doug sang it to God Save the Queen and I thought I heard some one sing it to O Canada.
*Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts,
Teach us something please
Whether we be old or bald
Or young with scabby knees
Our heads could do with filling
With some interesting stuff
For now they're bare and full of air
Dead flies and bits of fluff
So teach us things worth knowing
Bring back what we've forgot
Just do your best, we'll do the rest
And learn until our brains all rot
Afterwards we went to our rooms. It seemed the prefect was taking us to Flitwick's library. The prefect opened a book. It was Dragon Slaying, Made Easy by Professor Sprout. He laid it down and said aloud a password. I forgot what the prefect said. A doorway emerged from the book. It was invisible on one side. The prefect opened the door and let us in. "Remember to look for the book that doesn't make sense and open it. First year boys are over there, first year girls are over there," the Prefect said pointing. The common room was an extended library. It had a lot of books, some that were not in the library. Many of the older students reached for their favorite books and opened them where they left off. I decided to go to my room and sleep until morning. I need to show McGonagall what I am able to do.

Fred and George, with stuffed bellies, proceeded to leave the hall.
"Ask 'er, already," George hissed, as the two passed by Samantha.
Fred scowled, "Ask 'er wot?"
George shook his head, "Do you want the girl, or not?"
"Yes! I mean, no! I mean...come off of it, George." Fred sighed, stopping in his tracks. "Moight as well show 'er around. She is new an' all."
George grinned, "That's my boy!"
Fred blushed, back-tracking a few steps to have a word with Samantha, who was staring after Hermione as she stormed off with the Gryffindor first years. "Lil' brother, you're catching flies," Fred chuckled, closing Ron's mouth.
"You knew she had a fiery temper," Fred continued, before turning his attention to another Gryffindor with a hot tongue. "Samantha, uh...pretty name...yeah..."
Doh! Stop stammering like a blibbering idiot. Samantha was staring at him. Well, say something, you fool. She's waiting. Well? Say something!
"Something...erm...uh...Samantha. Would you like to walk back to the common rooms with George an' me?"

McGonagall watched the last of the students leave the hall, yawning and holding their full bellies. She smiled inspite of herself and turned to Dumbledore.
"Well, Albus, I do believe that was a wonderful feast, and the students are eager to begin their term!" Minerva said, smiling at her old friend.
Dumbledore nodded. "Indeed, Minerva. Indeed."
They looked out over the Great Hall and watched the candles hanging in mid-air being put out by a small breeze.
"Well, I suppose it is time to turn in for the night, Minerva. Have a good night, and don't be too hard on the little ones." Dumbedore said, his eyes sparkling behing his half-moon glasses.
The two professors bid each other a good night and headed for bed.
