Hallway Head Bang'n

Ron and Hermione quickly discovered that they weren't hungry after all, and left the Great Hall almost as suddenly as they had arrived.

"I think we should go check on Harry," said Hermione very matter-of-factly, "while we still have some time before our afternoon classes."

Ron nodded and they headed off for the hospital wing.

As the two Gryffindors turned the corner into the infirmary, Ron ran into his friend Samantha. Literally.

"Bugga, M' bloody 'ead!" cried Sam, holding her forehead, which was already bandaged.

Ron rubbed his head too. "Sorry about that." Sam was with his brother Fred and another girl he didn't recognize.

Sam raised her eyebrows, "Well, well, well. If it isn't my good friend Ron, who I 'aven't seen in ages."

"Sorry, Sam." Ron blushed, "I've had kind of a busy weekend."

Fred snickered, "Wot, work'n on that special project of yours again?"

"Put a sock in it, Fred," replied Ron, coolly. "I see you're working on your special project as we speak!"

That was enough to make Fred change the subject. "Ron, Hermione, this is Australia Kingston. I don't believe you've met." Hermione and Ron shook hands with Australia, a sixth year Gryffindor.

"What happened to your head, Samantha." Hermione asked finally. "Before Ron, that is."

"Oh, noth'n," Sam replied as she began to unwrap her bandage "Got 'it by a bouncing bulb in 'erbology."

Fred immediately grabbed Sam's hand, "Madam Pomfrey told ya ta leave in on!"

"But I don' wanna leave it on Fred, it's buggin' me!" Sammi protested.

"Well, you're going to leave it on whether ya like it or not." replied Fred firmly. He then turned back to his brother and Hermione. "I guess we should be going. We're off to–"

"Wait, can I have a word with you Sam?" asked Ron, innocently. "In private?"

Hermione's face burned.

"Sure thing, Ron." Samantha replied sweetly.

Now it was Fred who turned scarlet.

Sam and Ron walked down the hall until they were at a safe enough distance away. Looking down at the ground, Ron shrugged, "I was just wondering, well, you see, I just heard that you're a really good Quidditch player and I've always wanted to play but never got the chance, and I just...well, I was just wondering if you could coach me–only if you have time, of course–since Quidditch trials are coming up. And in secret too, just so no one will expect a whole lot of me."

Sam smiled, "Sheesh, m' boy. Don't yeh ever breath?"

New Teacher?

I take my place at the Hufflepuff table beside Leonora Torres and Jude Fairchild. At the staff table I notice a man about 35 with light brown hair streaked with gray and fine stress lines under his eyes. He almost looks frail. Is he a teacher or just a visitor?

"Who's that man talking to Hagrid and Dr. Endikut?" I ask our prefect, Hannah Abbott, pointing to the one sitting in front of Hagrid.

"That's Professor Lupin," she says. "He taught here two years ago, but resigned due to personal reasons."

"That's too bad," I say.

"Yeah," she says. "Everyone really liked him."

"He was an excellent teacher," says Justin Finch-Fletchley, a fifth year Hufflepuff boy. "He was so cool! Maybe he's here to help teach!"

"Why is Snape glaring at him like that if he's so cool?" I ask, looking nervously at how Prof. Snape is scowling at Lupin. "Snape doesn't like him," said Ernie Macmillan. "To put it mildly." I look at Professor Snape, nervously. He is not friendly to that many people so I can't imagine what I'd be like if he was looking at ME with so much hatred. I look at Lupin who doesn't seem at all daunted.

1st Year Transfiguration

I enter the class and take a seat beside Leonora Torres and Ariella Beck. Shortly after this, the teacher who greeted us at the sorting ceremony enters. She takes her place at her desk and addresses the class, "Transfiguration is one of the the most dangerous and difficult forms of magic you will learn at Hogwarts. Anyone caught fooling around in my class will be asked to leave and not return. You have been warned."*

She then turns her desk into a pig and back again. She then explains that today's task is to turn a match into a pin.

Aoife had just stuffed an apple into her bag when some one walked up behind her.

"Hi my name is Doug Terbeek," he said as she turned around.

"My name is Aoife Wright," she replied.

He glanced at the open spot next to her. "Is it alright if I sat down?"

"Um, sure," she scooted her bag gently out of the way as he sat down next to her.

"So I hear you're a transfer student. It must be different around here than where you're from," he said, and continued after she nodded. "So how do you like it here so far?"

Aoife looked around. "Well...it's ok I guess. I mean I don't know anyone so...I guess it's a little scary at times. But I'm okay with it."

"Well that's good," he replied. "Besides, now you know me." He flashed her a startlingly white smile.

Smiling nervously Aoife stood up to leave. "That's true. But I'm afraid I have to go now. Homework and all. You understand don't you?"

He stood up with her, "I understand completely. Can I escort you to the library?"

"Um, no. That's ok. I know where it is. But thank you anyway." With that Aoife turned on her heel and walked swiftly out of the Great Hall and was around the corner before he could catch up.

Last Two Classes of the Day

After a serious discussion with Hagrid and Lupin, I taught the fourth year Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws a few handy countercurses and the cheese-cut curse (wizard's equivalent of a whoopie cusion).

Then came fifth year Gryffindor and Slytherin. I noticed a few students were absent, including Harry Potter. I had gotten a note from Madam Pomfrey that a few Gryffindors were with Harry. I asked Seamus Finnigan to tell the absent students what we covered, which was antivampire spells. It's noble to be concerned about a friend, so I didn't remove any points for skipping class although Draco Malfoy thought I should have. But then again, I'm not his personal dog catcher anymore.

Herbology and Transfiguration

After lunch (I had to almost use a crowbar to free myself) I went to Herbology taught by Professor Sprout. She had us prune some plant. I forgot what it was. Then came Transfiguration. As soon as I got a match I turned it into a needle. "Done," I said before McGonagall gave Doug his match. "Very well, practice changing it back," she said keeping an eye on me. I spun the needle between my fingers and it was a match again. "You must be either great at transfiguration or slight of hand," McGonagall said giving another student a match. "Let me finish giving the other students matches," she said.

I waited changing my match into a needle, into a match, into a needle again, into a nail, into a snail, then into a pail, then a grail, then a pup. I then started to play with the pup. By the time McGonagall returned she noticed the puppy. I grinned, she sat on her desk and let me continue. I turned the pup back into a grail, then a nail, then a needle and then a match. I sat and grinned.

In the Hall

And apparently that's where this class was going to stay for as the clock ticked on it was clear the first class wasn't leaving quite yet. Soon however, pieces of paper started to float out of the door and into the hall. The students picked them up to find their homework assignment and class primer listed.

Pete sighed as he looked at the list of pages he had to read. At least now they could finally go to lunch.

Deep Thoughts and Hagrid!
Author: Robert Blackheart
Date: 01-05-02 01:32

I sat, still deep in thought when the giant shadow loomed over me and Hagrid sat down opposite.

"'Spose yer deep in thought then," said the half giant teacher of Care of Magical Creatures.

I smiled and for the first time in weeks I couldn't hear the poisonous voice in the back of my head.

"I'm fine Hagrid...honest."

"I 'spose thats why yer chewing paper napkins then," said Hagrid smiling kindly.

I suddenly realised I wasn't chewing my lunch but Hagrid (kind soul that he is) just carried on as if eating paper napkins was the most normal thing in the world.

"Yer good at potions, Robert and don't get all modest cos I 'appen ter know from Professor Snape that yer better at potions than Hermione is at spells."

I nodded, there's no point in contradicting Hagrid (especially when he's only telling the truth.)

"Now Robert keep this a secret but I might need a little help with a potion I'm brewing. In fact, I'm having a lot of trouble with a potion I'm trying ter brew."

The truth suddenly dawned: the lightbulb shone.

"Hagrid, you aren't brewing cider again are you?"

I shuddered. Hagrid's last "brewing" was wonderful, absolutely wonderful, for cleaning drains, clearing rats nests and shooing away dragons.

"Be at me hut after classes and shhhhhh dad's the word."

"Don't you mean **Mum's the word** Hagrid?" I asked.

"There yer are yer see, I told yer I needs a little help."

I grinned happily. Hagrid has that effect.

"Oh jus' one more thing young Robert"

"Yes Hagrid?"

"If ever I 'ear yer muttering professor McGonagall's a silly old biddy, I'll feed yer to a bleedin' dragon!"

"Yes Hagrid."

Last of the First Day
Author: Samantha Thatcher

"Sheesh, m' boy. Don't yeh ever breath?" Samantha smiled at Ron. "I'd be 'appy to coach yeh in Quidditch."

There was a look of relief on the boys' face. "Oh great! Thank you Sam!"

Samantha laughed. "O' course Ron, anytime. If yeh ever need anything jus' ask m'boy!" She patted him on the back, and the joined Fred and Hermione again. "Well, shall we go get some lunch now Fred?"

Fred looked a little confused and curious. "Sure...Well, see ya around then you two."

"Bye then." Ron and Hermione said together, heading to the Hospital Wing.

Fred took Samantha's hand in his again and, along with Australia, headed to the Great Hall for lunch. When they arrived George was saving them some seats.

"Oy! Over 'ere Fred and Sam!" He was waving at them and Sam and Fred made there way to him.

"Oh! I have to go, it was nice meeting you both." Australia announced suddenly.

Sam smiled. "Right then, see yeh later Aussi!"

Fred, George and Samantha had a good lunch, then headed off to do anything and everything; the rest of the day was pretty relaxing.

Later that night they were sitting in front of the fireplace. Samantha was reading a book she had brought with her.

"What're ya readin' Sam?" George asked.

"Hmm?" She looked up at George and realized what he said. "Oh, The Oasis by Pauline Gedge. May be a Muggle book but it's a good one!"

"I didn't know you liked to read." Fred smiled.

"Yeah, I love to read...Surprised, eh?"

"A little." He got up and stretched his arms. "Well, I think it's time for bed!" He yawned; George and Sammi agreed so they all headed for bed.

Returning to the Office
Author: Prof. Sorcha
Date: 01-05-02 09:49

Sorcha walked into her office for the second time. She had stopped by the Great Hall to grab a quick bite to eat. She didn't stay long and didn't look around in case Adam was staring at her.

She sat down in the chair behind the desk and looked at the stuff that she had to do. There were still things to put in the office: personal items, a shelf of books, other things. They were sitting in a box on the floor.

Sorcha pulled out her wand and had everything float into the place that she wanted it to go. Now, the office looked better. There was a bookshelf full of books on ancient runes and a few on archeological sites; there was one book on the lives of two archeologists, her parents.

Her desk was no longer a mess of papers, but it will be again, soon. There was a frame with the picture of her parents, taken one week before the accident. There were no books on the desk, just a straight stack of papers. Finally, behind the desk, in a corner was the stand for Ailsa.

Sorcha started to work at the papers. She stayed there until she had to go get something to eat.

Visiting Harry
Author: Ron Weasley
Date: 01-05-02 10:10

Ron and Hermione said goodbye to the three older Gryffindors and headed into the infirmary.

"What was that all about?" Hermione snapped. "With Samantha!"

Ron blushed, "Nothing, Hermione. Don't worry about it, please."

Hermione glared at Ron, her eyes piercing like daggers, but a moan from Harry quickly put their priorities in order.

"Harry?" Hermione whispered softly. Harry's eyes fluttered opened and looked weakly at his two best friends.

Harry smiled, "Hey, Hermione. Ron."

"Are you all right?" asked a very worried looking Ron.

"I think so. Madam Pomfrey wants me to stay here tonight, but I'll be in class tomorrow." Harry fluffed the pillows behind his head and pulled himself up.

Hermione looked unsatisfied, "Well what happened, silly! Obviously it was your scar. And what is it that you're not telling us! With You-Know-Who running around any detail could be important!"

Harry shrugged, "I don't know what happened, really. It just hurt. But I've been having the strangest dreams today. I'm starting to believe there's a lot more to my past than what Dumbledore and Sirius have been telling me."

For a moment the three of them said nothing.

"Well," Hermione sighed. "We'll just have to do some more investigating. Harry, it's important to do as Madame Pomfrey says. Ron and I have to go to class now, but we'll come back again before dinner. And don't worry, I'm talking notes for you so you won't be behind in the classes you've missed!"

"Thanks, Hermione," Harry grinned, "It's nice to know you're looking out for my studies!"

Ron smiled, "You-Know-Who might be lurking around the corner but at least you've got your class notes!"

Hermione shot Ron another death look, he shuddered. "Right, well, we better be off, Harry. But we'll come back soon."

Harry said goodbye to his friends and drifted off to another restless sleep.

Wandering Around
Author: Neo Anderson
Date: 01-05-02 21:08

Neo was in such a good mood he just had to walk around thinking (like he always does) until he ran into someone...

"Ouch!" Neo said rubbing his arm... "Oh! I'm sorry abou' tha'! I wasn' paying attention" The two persons (a boy with flaming red hair and a girl with curly brown hair) stared. "It's okay, really." said Red.

Neo and the other two walked passed each other. Neo quickly turned around and faced the others. "OY! I LIKE YOUR HAIR!!" Neo cried to the redhead.

Neo continued to walk until he passed a door... he took a step back and looked inside... He stared at a sign that read 'Hospital Wing.'

Neo shrugged and walked inside. "Woah!" he said to himself. He continued to walk down the rows of beds, then he suddenly tripped and fell on his face.

"OUCH!" cried Neo. Then he looked around. "Sweet mother of pearl!!!" Neo said. He realized he had Prote's rare glass quill and it was broken in two.

Neo looked as if he was going to cry. "Prote is going to bloody murder me!" he said. Neo rose up knocking his head on the bed bar.

"BLEEDIN' DRAGONS!!" cried Neo, holding his head. "Am I bloody cursed or somethin'?! I jus' can't keep meself from running into things!" Neo said to himself. He rose level with the bed and noticed someone sleeping in it.

Neo's eyes widened and he covered his mouth in surprise. He rose slowly standing on his feet and glanced at the guys face...

Neo gave a little squeak and slapped his mouth shut again, eyes even wider... I just knocked my bloody head on Harry Potter's bed!!! thought Neo.

He quickly got out a piece of parchment and a quill and wrote a little note saying:

Dear Harry Potter,
While you were sleeping, I accidentally knocked my head on your bed... so I'm sorry if I disturbed the dreams you were having at the time.
Yours truly,
Neo Anderson of Hufflepuff House

Neo placed the note by Harry's pillow. Still covering his mouth Neo walked quietly out of the Hospital Wing.

Once Neo was outside he ran towards the Hufflepuff House to tell Prote about his quill...
