The lot walked to the greenhouse, with him and Christina leading the way. Mirai had been smiling mysteriously since Transfiguration ended. When he looked at Margaritte to see if she knows why, she just shrugged her shoulders.
He and Christa walked together side by side, conversing mainly with themselves, almost ignoring the others. Almost, as he can still hear them laugh with whatever Vincent had told the others.
When they reached the greenhouse, they lined up side-by-side and waited for the other students to arrive.
"So, how do you like Hogwarts so far?" Kennard asked Mirai and Diether.
Mirai answered first. "Well, I like Transfiguration so far. It was one of my favorite subjects in Florecido."
"It's ok. But I guess I like the common room best," Diether said.
"And why is that?" Margaritte asked.
Diether smiled, to which Mirai rolled her eyes. "It's where I can rest and do nothing."
They all laughed at what he said and quickly quieted down when Prof. Logan entered.
Soon, the class was over. He and Vincent were heading to the common room when he noticed the others were not following.
"Where are you going?" he called out to the four who were heading the other way.
"Ancient Runes!" Christina answered, and she waved before hurrying up to catch the others.
"Looks like it's just us two again," Vincent commented.
"Hmmm," Kennard answered as he tore his gaze away from Christina's retreating back.
Vincent shook his head as they ascended the stairs.
"What?" he asked his friend.
"Oh, nothing," Vincent answered. He looked at Kennard then sighed. "Just tell her, you know."
Kennard looked puzzled. "Tell who what?"
"Don't make me say it," Vincent told him as they entered the common room. "Because I know that you know who and what I'm talking about," he continued, giving him a look as they sat down on one of the chairs and dropped their books on the table.
Kennard sighed. "What if she says no?" he said, finally getting Vincent's meaning.
Vincent snorted. "Just tell her and find out, ok. Who knows, she might like you, too," he said, smiling.
Kennard nodded and spaced out. He was already thinking of how to tell her what he really feels.

"Oy, Fred!" George exclaimed, tossing a carton of chocolate covered cherry bombs across the room.
His identical twin caught it and stepped behind the counter to mark the box.
"You've been grinning all morning, Fred," George said playfully. "Tell me about this date with Blossom."
Fred zapped the carton with the tip of his wand, causing a price tag to appear. He looked up from his work, the grin never leaving his face, and began, "Well..."
George never gave him a chance to finish his sentence. "You two must have had a really good time." He waggled his eyebrows. "I can tell by the goofy look on your face. Is it just me, Fred, or are your ears turning a shocking shade of red?"
"Give me a break, George," Fred exclaimed, stepping out from behind the counter to place the carton on an appropriate shelf. "I really like this girl. I do, all right?"
"State the obvious, bro."
"Shut up, George." Fred playfully punched George in the arm and then exclaimed teasingly, "Don't you need to write Majandra? If I'm not mistaken, you've only written her once today!"
"Shut up, Fred!" George laughed and gave his brother a friendly clap on the shoulder. "We're two lucky guys, aren't we?"
"I think so, George. I think so."
George grinned slyly and pleaded, "So...gimme details."
Fred greeted a customer who had just entered the shop and then hissed to his brother, "There's nothing really to tell, George. We went out for pizza, got to know each other and yes, George, we had a really good time."
"Good night kiss at the end of the date?" George's grin only widened.
Fred's ears burned. "Maybe," he said mysteriously, but of course George knew exactly what that meant.
"Way to go, Fred! So, tell me more about..."
"George! Enough already!"
George pouted slightly and said apologetically, "I only wanted to ask about the pizza."
Fred laughed. "All right, but I have a better idea. Let's eat pizza for lunch."

Orei paid close attention to everything Professor Somerset said in his lecture. To say that her eyes were glued to the handsome professor, one wouldn't be wrong either. It would seem that the young Gryffindor had a crush on the DADA professor.
Soon the bells rang and class was dismissed. Orei sighed and gathered her materials before heading to her dormitory, and spending some time in the Gryffindor common room. She had briefly seen her roommates in class, but didn't have a chance to truly meet them face to face yet. She grabbed her books for Transfiguration and headed toward the common room.
She sat down in one of the chairs near the fire and began to read for class. Once her reading was finished she headed down to the Great Hall for some lunch. She ate looking around at the other students gathered. She thought about sending a letter to her mom and dad via Aage, but what would she say? She couldn't tell her mom that she hadn't made any friends in her own house. The only others she truly had met were sorted into another house, and she very rarely saw Fritz and Coco. She decided to write the letter any way. She pulled out a piece of parchment and quickly penned out the letter. She headed to the Owlery and fed Aage a few mice before sending him off with a letter to her mom.
She hung around the Great Hall for a bit longer before finally heading to Transfiguration with Professor McGonagall.

After a hearty lunch Fritz and Coco as well as other first years on their way to Herbology, wandered out of the castle in search of the greenhouses. Everyone in the group seemed relieved when Miss Logan met the band of Ravenclaws and Slytherins before anyone got lost. Once there, Fritz and Coco both greatly enjoyed Herbology, pairing up again as they had in Potions.
Now, the pair talk excitedly about their first Transfiguration class as they and the other first year Ravenclaws troop back inside the castle in search of the classroom. Along the way, the Ravenclaws meet up with several of the first year Gryffindors who are also on their way to Transfiguration. Much to Fritz's and Coco's joy, Orei is one of the Gryffindors they come across. She looks as happy to see them as they are her, Orei not showing any signs of shock that Coco's hair is now Ravenclaw blue tied up with silver ribbons, and the three link arms, chatting animatedly about their day so far.
Arriving at the classroom, the trio decide to sit together. As they wait for Professor McGonagall to arrive, Pea pokes his head out and is rewarded with lavish attention from students who had not yet seen the diminutive dog. Talking with her new friends as they wait and wiggling her barefoot toes in bliss, Coco thinks that so far Hogwarts is turning out to be a smashingly grand place.

Before lunch Madam Hooch sat in her office replying to an owl that she had received earlier in the day from Victor. She wanted to send it out before going to lunch.
Dear Victor,
I think it would be a fine idea to have extra lessons for those students who cannot attend the Hogsmeade outings. I will hang up a sign up roster before the first lesson.

"You know Bronwyn, if you swirl that bit of mashed potatoes a little more to the right, you could enter that masterpiece into an art contest!"
"You're unusually cheerful for this early in the..." Bronwyn paused to check the time, "...early afternoon. Did you just roll out of bed, Toby Beck?"
"Just in time for an early afternoon lunch, Miss Dewhurst. Mind if I join you?"
"Not at all." Bronwyn added quietly, "I could use the company."
Toby's hand reached across the table to grasp hers. "You and me both." He ran his thumb soothingly over the back of her hand and studied her pensively.
"How do you do it, Toby?" Bronwyn suddenly pondered aloud. "How can you smile and tease like you always have even though she's no longer with us?"
Toby's brows drew together and he clasped Bronwyn's hand tighter, covering the top of her hand with his other one. "You can't shut yourself out from the world, Bronwyn. Bad things happen all the time, and sometimes they happen to the people you care the most about."
His brown eyes glistened. "I miss my sister so much and there isn't a moment that goes by when I don't think about her. But," he paused for a moment, taking in a deep breath, "I know that she wouldn't want me to mope around all day. She'd want me to live. She'd want the same thing for you."
Bronwyn sighed, nodding her head. "I know she would, Toby. It'll just take some time..."
"What you need is something to take your mind off the pain." Toby's eyes suddenly lit up. "There's a spot open on the Quidditch team..."
"It was her spot," Bronwyn pointed out. "I'm not sure that'll clear my mind..."
"It's hard for me too, Bron. She and I were the beaters. Two of a kind! A team on the field as well as off!" He smiled slightly. "You and I could make a good team..."
"I'd rather not play, I think," Bronwyn said quietly.
"What about your new roommate?"
"I don't know if she likes Quidditch..."
"No," Toby said, smiling. "I meant, have you talked to her?"
Bronwyn nodded. "A little. My next class is Potions at 2:00. She'll be there." She paused, taking a sip of pumpkin juice. "She's very nice, but I haven't really gotten to know her yet."
"Why not?"
Bronwyn shrugged. "I don't know..."
Toby rubbed her hand. "It's so unlike you. Where's the old Bronwyn, the one who could talk up complete strangers as if they were old friends? I really miss her."
"So do I."
Toby smiled. "When will she come out to play?"
"Soon," Bronwyn said, returning his smile. "I promise."
Toby grinned and leaned over the table to give her a hug, promptly dipping the front of his robes into her plate of mashed potatoes. She rose from her seat to meet his embrace.
"She loved you like a sister, you know," Toby whispered into her ear.
Bronwyn breathed, "And you?"
Toby tightened his arms around her and whispered, "Not like a sister..."

Lawrence and Vera ate and talked about this, that, and everything. "So I still have some time before I have to be in class, what do you want to do?" he asked her after they'd finished lunch and were headed toward the Hufflepuff house's common room.
"Exactly how much time do you have until...what class did you say you had next?" Vera asked.
"Potions, at 2:00. That gives me a few hours to play." Lawrence grinned and wrapped his arms around her. Vera smiled. "Well, we could get comfy on the couch and chit chat, study...or we could just wander around like this."
Vera felt him playing with her hair that was on her shoulder. "I like this. I think you should show me some of your talent on a broom." Lawrence grinned and looked down at her. Vera rose a brow.
"Is that a challenge Mr. Masterson?" She questioned. And Lawrence replied. "You bet..."
First day back to school is always difficult after a long summer break. First class is history of magic, undoubtedly the most boring. Professor Binns rambles on and on. Making an effort not to doze off, I take the notes and try not to get similar-sounding names mixed up.
A very happy Dobby whistles one merry tune after another as he goes from one job to the next. He surveys his handiwork in the sixth year boys' dorm room in Gryffindor House, pleased with how clean he's gotten his Harry's room. From there the House Elf goes to the seventh year boys' room to begin cleaning it. Every so often, Dobby pauses to admire himself in whatever mirror is nearest.
That morning just before breakfast, his Harry had sought Dobby out and given him such a nice present the House Elf was moved to tears. Opening a large, brightly wrapped package, Dobby had found a number of bow ties, a variety of vests, a slew of socks, and best of all, a fancy pocket watch with gold chain to hang from a pocket whenever he wore a vest. To say the least, Dobby donned one of the vests right there on the spot and affixed his new watch and chain to the vest. As far as Dobby's concerned, he's the most stylish House Elf in the world and has the best of friends in Harry Potter!

As Vera and Lawrence walked toward the Hufflepuff house Lawrence grinned. "I think you should show me some of your talent on a broom." he chuckled when she rose a brow.
He grinned and looked down at her. "Is that a challenge Mr. Masterson?" she asked.
"You be it it is Miss Delgety." he said with another laugh.
He saw her eyes sparkle and he knew he had picked something she truly enjoyed. "I accept that challenge Mr. Masterson," she said with a smile.
"Good. I was hoping you would accept it." He kissed her lightly and smiled and said the password to let them into the Hufflepuff common room. "Besides, we can cozy up next to the fire after dinner." he said with a mischievous smile.

As the fifth years exit the Charms room, Remadi enters. She notices that her Charms class is very small and doesn't have any trouble finding a seat. She listens intently as Professor Flitwick explains the "Impervius" spell. Remadi had never tried the spell, but she remembers her mum using it before. It takes her a few tries, but she finally gets the spell down with some helpful suggestions by the professor. After Charms, she finds her way to History of Magic. She had heard people talking about how boring this class was, but she didn't truly grasp the truth of it until she had to spend an hour in the class. Neko proved it by curling up on Remadi's desk and sleeping the time away. After History, she has two hours free. Remadi stops by her room to drop of her morning books and get her afternoon ones. She grabs some food and finds a nice place outside to eat and studying for her upcoming lessons. Neko stays near her, taking food from her hands and playing in the area around Remadi. Once she's done eating, she decides to stay outside until she has to go to Potion's class, practicing the "Impervius" spell and studying the first part of her potion's book.
A Stroll Before Lunch
Author: Albus Dumbledore

My head feels as if it is ready to explode and my stomach is turning sour over all this planning and cogitation surrounding Voldemort. I do believe I need a bit of fresh air. I set aside the last of the messages I will send after lunch, stand and stretch, then step into the spiral staircase. Down and round, round and down, finally arriving at the second floor exit. One last flight of stairs and the large, oaken doors open before me.
The world outside is bright and golden, and smells of early autumn. Students are moving about the green, mostly going to or coming from their Herbology lessons, laughing and chatting as they go. One group coming along the well-worn pathway catches my attention. I believe it is the bright blue hair on one of the first-years.
"Good afternoon!" I greet them. "I am gratified, Miss Nutt, to see that you have become such a staunch supporter of your house. I do believe all that effort should be worth five house points for Ravenclaw!" I chuckle inwardly at her blushing response. "However, I think it would be a wise idea to wear your shoes when outside your dormitory area. You never know when a nickelpede or a nema-toad might take a liking to your toes."
Turning to the others, I say "And you are Miss McCoi and Mister Schnackenpfefferhausen, if I remember rightly. A Gryffindor and another Ravenclaw. Your sudies are going well, I hope." I listen to discover that they all seem to be integrating into the Hogwarts environment. I continue my stroll as they rush off to their Transfiguration lessons.
Jet spends the time between Divinations and Potions grabbing some lunch and searching for a secluded spot in which to spend time reading and thinking. The solitude of shutting the curtains on his bed or scowling at people to leave him alone in the common room only goes so far. To keep some peace of mind, Jet needs a place where no one will disturb him and with the cave still not a feasible place to seek refuge, somewhere in the castle will just have to do.
A few minutes before needing to make his way down to the dungeons for Potions, Jet discovers an out of the way, dusty, little room with great potential to suit his needs. The room is not on a main hallway. It's small and cozy. The thick layer of dust and covering of cobwebs indicate it's not been used in a long time. Also, no window in the small room helps to ensure total privacy. And, as luck would have it, there is a key to the lock hanging on a peg just inside the door. Between the key and a little of Sal's magic, Jet is sure no one will ever disturb him when he's using the room.
Pocketing the key, a smiling Jet saunters off to Potions class.
Let the Game Begin!

Harry and Ron have a blast zooming all over the Pitch as Ron becomes more accustomed to his new broom. Once they've both gotten racing around willy nilly out of their systems, Harry gets a Quaffle so he and Ron can run through a series of moves. Ron, unsure of what position he wants to try for, plans on having Harry run drills with him on the three positions with openings on the Gryffindor team - Keeper, Chaser, and Beater.
The boys begin with passing the Quaffle while darting from one end of the Pitch to the other. After awhile, they move to the rings at one end to alternate being Keeper as the other plays Chaser trying to make a goal.
Ron and Harry take a break long enough to grab some sandwiches and something to drink in the Great Hall. When they resume their Quidditch workout, Ron releases two Bludgers to get in some practice as a Beater. By the time the boys are nearly falling off their brooms laughing at their efforts to send Bludgers at each other, enough spectators have assembled that Harry suggests an impromtu game. With many of those watching having high hopes of earning spots on their respective house teams, Harry's suggestion is thought to be a bloody brilliant one.
Within minutes, two teams are waiting in eager anticipation for the volunteer referee to blow the whistle and get the friendly game going.
Just in time for lunch, they wander back into the castle. Cho takes a seat across from him at the Ravenclaw table to do some much needed girl talk catching up with Aradia and Sykra. They discuss their days and schedules until food is served and all is silent except for the occasional murmur, most everyone worn out from their first day of getting back into the groove of school.
After lunch, they linger in the lunch hall, Cho having brought her mini-wizard's chess set, she sets it out on the table, looking quizzically to Fynn, "Wanna play?"
Sorcha sat in her office carefully planning for her classes tomorrow morning. Her classes had gone well for the most part. Aside from Cho and Fynn, everyone had paid attention to her lectures. If Cho could find happiness so soon after her loss, then there was no problem with her being a little distracted in class.
Outside of class, Sorcha had questions about what was going on. Last night Dumbledore and Dierna ni Ciaran had questioned her about activities relating to the Dark Lord. Afterwards Dierna had taken some items from her office, and a writing sample. Why would they suspect me of dark activities? Sorcha thought to herself, I couldn't serve him in a million years. There is no way. What would make them think that I am working for him?
What have I done that makes them think that I work for him? Sorcha leaned back in her chair to think about what was going on. A moment later she felt very tired, and it wasn't long until she was sound asleep. She woke up with a start a few moments later, only to find everything exactly the same as it was before. She thought it was strange that she just fell asleep.
Too Busy to Think
Author: Briar Rose
Date: 01-04-03 08:31
The bakery had been busy all day with numerous back to school orders to be filled. Additionally, Briar had made a special tray of goodies and a layered cake with house crest for each of the Hogwarts houses. Included in the delivery to each house were bundles of coupon booklets to be passed out to students and faculty.
The booklet wasn't made up of just coupons for Briar's Bakery. About a month before the new school term was set to begin, during a meeting of the Hogsmeade Business Association (HBA), the decisions was made to create the coupon booklets and that each would have at least three coupons per HBA members' establishments.
Briar, knowing she was going to be sending bakery items to the school, had volunteered to be in charge of distribution. Included in each booklet were such coupons as Two for the price of one butterbeer at The Three Broomsticks, Two galleons off any purchase at Twice Told Tales, and Buy two cauldron cakes, get one free at Briar's Bakery. The newest establishments in town, The Spinning Horn and NEVVYN'S Notions & Potions of course had coupons in the booklets as well.
To further advertise the Hogsmeade shops, restaurants, and pubs, coupon booklets were being sent to each Ministry branch. The HBA had decided that Hogmeades' very own Dierna ní Cíaran would receive the very first of the booklets sent to her particular office of the Ministry. Briar had volunteered for the Ministry distribution as well. With Madame Rosmerta's help, baskets of muffins and piping hot tea along with the coupon booklets were sent out bright and early this morning to the various branches and their offices.
With so much to do on this fine September day, Briar's has not had a single thought about wedding plans. This is most likely a very good thing because for over a week now, every night her dreams have been filled with increasing doubts about actually going through with the marriage. After spending so much time Sunday picking out a dress and narrowing down choices for Chyler's dress, Briar had woken this morning wondering what the heck she's been thinking. Marrying the son of Death Eaters who himself holds views and ideas very similar to his parents?
If Julian knew that the only thing that's kept Briar from walking over and telling him they need to postpone everything was due to Briar not having two seconds to think of anything but getting orders out, he'd have made sure that every day for the next several weeks were just as busy at the bakery.
