The train stopped. Neville and I were already back in our seats keeping an eye on our pets. "I'll see you at the feast," Neville said. "Thanks, what should I do?" "See that big hairy bloke? That is Hagrid. You are to go with him to the lake," Neville said as I took Bucky with me to the giant, about going to the lake. "My new friend said I should go to the lake with you and the rest of the first years," I said.

"Would the firs' years and transfer students come over 'ere please!" It was Hagrid. "Come now, don't be shy!"

"Blast it!" Samantha exclaimed. "I have ta go with the bloody first years?!" She hesitated, "Uh...No offense o' course Aradia..."

Aradia smiled. "None takin', Sam!"

Samantha gave a sorry little laugh. "Well, then..Guess I'll be seein' yeh two at Hogwarts!" She said to Cho and Sykra.

Sykra grinned. "Guess so! Have fun with the little ones!" The two laughed as they walked off.

Samantha glared at the two as they left.

*Peeves floats into The Great Hall and is, himself, awed at the splendor and beauty of all of the decorations that have been placed in preparation of the students' arrival*

*A silver tear of overwhelming emotion comes to his eye....*

Enough of THAT!

*.....He catches himself and flicks the tear off abruptly with the flick of his finger.*

Now now, WHAT can PEEVES do to offer HIS special welcome to the students?

*He ponders as he floats over the lavishly decorated tables......*

Greeting Returning Students
Author: Dr. Armageddon Endikut
Date: 12-03-01 05:10

I left my hospital bed, with permisson, to greet the returning students, "So I guess he is our new Dark Arts teacher," said a sixth year student. "I wonder when we will have a female dark arts teacher," said another. "Dr. Endikut is a member of the Committee for the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures and an expert on vampires," said Professor McGonagall. "Thank you, oh, Professor McGonagall what is the proper punishment for a vulger student? In Cowboils, we just turned vulger students into animals for the rest of the class time, like an old fashioned dunce cap." I asked Professor McGonagall aside, wondering about the proper punishments at Hogwarts. It has been forty-four years since I was sorted.

Have a Nice Trip! See You Next Fall!
Author: Sykra Sawyer

Cho and Sykra laughed as they headed for the carriages. They climbed into the nearest one.

"Hey Sykra!!" Sykra heard a familiar voice.

"Why hey Lilah...Adam!" Sykra greeted her two friends as she and Cho sat down. "We meet again.....yet under better circumstances!" Cho gave the three of them a strange look as they laughed. So Sykra, Adam, and Lilah explained their meeting.

"OH!" Cho laughed. "What a way to meet." They enjoyed a laugh then discussed Quidditch and what else they would be doing that year for the rest of the trip.

"We're here!" Lilah explained.

" 'Bout time...I'm starved!" Adam said. Cho and Sykra laughed as they stood up. The other two followed.

Sykra started to descend from the carriage, but slipped and grabbed onto Adam for support, who grabbed on to Lilah and they all fell out into the mud, knocking Cho over as well.

Cho screamed. "AHHHHHHH!!" She tried to stand up, but fell back down, causing the other three to go into fits off laughed. "Ohhh! Now I'm all covered in mud!" Cho moaned.

"Well, so are we!" Sykra laughed. Cho glared at her. "Wot? I'm sorry! I didn't mean ta slip!" She grinned and threw mud at her three friends.

"Hey!" Adam said as he threw mud back. But Sykra ducked and the mud hit Lilah. Lilah screamed and went after Adam and they ran into Cho again. Sykra doubled over in fits of laughter as Cho went after both Adam and Lilah.

"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?????????" The four friends froze and looked up.

"NO offence taken." I reply to Samantha's indignation. "I'm not a first year, strictly speaking. I have been tutored privately so was admitted at fifth year level. That makes me something of a transfer student like yourself." That said, I share her feelings in a way. It's weird being so much older than all the others. But I'm not letting something small like that disappoint me. I am way too happy to be here. Does anyone know how they sort us into houses?"

A Dare?

"Sorting...Hum...Not sure 'ere. Guess we'll have ta wai' a while ta find out." Samantha answered Aradia's question.

They were in the boats almost at shore and Samantha decided to start a water fight. She was very bored...

"Samantha!!" Aradia was obviously mad. "Don't do that! You're getting me all wet!"

"Aww...Come now, a little water nevar hurt any'un.!"

Aradia glared at her. "But it's cold! I could catch the flu! You like the water so much, why don't you swim to shore!"

Samantha looked at the water as if testing it. "Hmm...Not a bad idea...Is that a dare Miss Forest?" She questioned.

"What?! Of course not! I would never want you to do that. I was only joking." Aradia tried to change Sam's mind about it.

Sulking Samantha sat back in the boat. "You're no fun." She sighed.

I can't believe she took me seriously...or chose to deliberately misunderstand me. But then again, maybe I shouldn't be. I would have done the same thing. Still, I am sopping wet...some way to make an entrance!

"This is MOST undignified! Entering the hall all wet! Everyone will think I fell in. You are SO dead!" I grin mischievously, "You will regret the day you got Aradia Forest soaked! Revenge will be soo good!" I laugh and brandish my wand in the air. It sends out a small fountain of sparks which momentarily illuminates the huge lake. Grinning I think Oh yes! I will get her! Oh will I ever!

Getting Ready
Author: Minerva McGonagall
Date: 12-03-01 19:09

Minerva flitted through the Great Hall, hurrying to get to the side-room she was to meet the First Years and the Transfer Students, her long darkgreen cloak floating behind her.

The rest of the students had just began arriving, she turned her head and a silvery fleck caught her eye.

"Peeves!" she hissed, quietly. The ghost came semi-into-view and came down by her. "Don't you start anything, Peeves. I'll get the Bloody Baron on you quicker than you . . . well," she narrowed her eyes. "Don't you do anything. Not here, not now."

Peeves laughed, his hands behind his back. "Well, I'll try to be good," he finally said. But, McGonagall knew that he had his ghostly fingers crossed.

"Now, get!" She said, and the poltergeist dissapeared in thin air.

She sighed and continued to the side room.

The Side-Room

As McGonagall hurried through the Great Hall to the side room to meet the First Year and Transfer students, she halted in her tracks, closed her eyes briefly and said a small, silent prayer.

Please, let this be a good year. I don't want any trouble!

She opened her eyes, knowing that this small prayer would not be answered. There was always trouble every year. No matter how hard she wished and prayed there wouldn't be any. They had those Weasley twins who were always into some kind of trouble, and something always tended to happen to Mr. Harry Potter. She hoped this year would be a clean year. No problems. But, she knew this would not be the case after the events of this summer. Not with the note of the recent attacks she had been sent from a former student and fellow Animagi.

She shook her head, and placed the glasses she had just been cleaning back on her face.

As she heard voices coming up to the door, with a booming, deep voice (assumed to be Hagrid) she took a deep breath, straightened her cloak and soothed her hair a bit, then stood, tall and strict, waiting to begin her mini-lecture of the coming term.

At First Sight

The castle was huge. Samantha was overjoyed to know she was attending such a big place...Plenty of space for trouble makers...

"I can'a believe that YOU threatened ME!" She said to Aradia. "No one threats Samantha Thatcher missy!"

Aradia laughed. "Is that so Miss Thatcher? Well then, it seems that you and I will have some fun this term!"

Samantha eyed her. Before she could make a come back the giant of a man spoke, "Alrigh'! 'Ere we are, Hogwarts school!"

Looking around, Samantha saw Minerva McGonagall, a friend of her parents and family. She knew her very well.

"Minerva!!" Samantha shouted. She waved her hand in the crowd of first years and slowly made her way to the teacher and friend.

Come on Yer Firs' Years
Author: Hagrid
Date: 12-03-01 23:15

A somewhat quiet Hagrid had ushered the first years into the boats and gotten them across the lake with hardly any injuries.

He was a lot more watchful this year what with Voldemort back and his near death experience in the upstairs room of the Leaky Cauldron.

Safely across the water and inside Hogwarts his spirits cheered. (The thought of the feast and the ale that went with it helped)

"Come along yer firs' years," he called happily. "Gotta get yer all in an' counted an' sorted."

There's a Rumbly in My Tummy
Author: Hermione Granger
Date: 12-04-01 23:28

Harry, Ron, and Hermione filed into the Great Hall for their fifth start-of-term feast. Thousands of candles floating beneath the bewitched ceiling of twinkling stars lit up the grand banqueting hall. The three friends made their way to the Gryffindor table, Ron immediately following Hermione down one side, while Harry chose the other.

"I wonder what kind of food they'll serve up tonight," Harry said, taking the seat directly across from Ron.

Ron shrugged, "Probably the usual - roast beef, pork chops, sausage..."

"Those poor elves work too hard!" Hermione interrupted, folding her arms.

"Hermione, you are going to eat tonight, aren't you?" Ron asked, concerned that she was still protesting house-elf enslavement.

"Yes, I'm going to eat tonight," she replied hastily. "Despite all the candy we ate on the train, I'm starving!"

Ron laughed, "Good. I don't know about you but I'm looking forward to dessert! Ice cream, apple pie, chocolate eclaires! Mmmmm..." He leaned backwards in his chair and rubbed his belly enthusiastically.

Hermione grinned and shook her head, "Sometimes I think you're worse than your brothers!"

"Is that even possible?" Harry asked, bewildered.

"Highly unlikely!" Ron admitted. "I wonder what's taking those two so long to get here?"

Hermione raised an eyebrow, "Must you even speculate? They're probably already wreaking havoc!"

Ron nodded, "Yes, I imagine so!"

The Great Hall was filling rapidly with eager students, all highly anticipating the sorting ceremony.

The Side-room: Introductions
Author: Minerva McGonagall

She smiled at the young girl who waved and walked up the steps toward her. All four students made their way up to McGonagall, their expressions swimming somewhere between excitement and apprehension.

She nodded at Samantha and smiled at her briefly, making a note to talk to her later. She spotted the young boy that was called Lostark, and the two other young girls, one a transfer, as Miss Thatcher, and the other a new First Year.

"Miss Forest, I presume?" McGonagall said, nodding toward the new transfer student.

She nodded back, "Yes, Professor."

"And, Miss Patterson?" She gestured toward the other girl, a First Year.

"Yes, Professor," she said.

"And you must be Lostark?"

"Yes, Professor," He nodded.

She allowed her eyes to travel over the rest of the First Years, they seemed ready and eager, yet scared at the same time. She smiled at them all.

"Wonderful," McGonagall said, pleased to have everyone here.

Minerva began telling the students about the houses, and how they'd be separated into them, the rules of the Castle, and other such things. The students seemed to understand everything well, which pleased her. This term seemed to be starting out well.

Mm...Start of Term Banquet

She grins with delight as she enters the hall, chocolate eyes dancing at the familiar and sorely missed sight of Hogwarts. She smiles as she passes the Gryffindor table and takes her place at the Ravenclaw table. Laughing with old friends, and meeting new ones. This year would certainly not be dull.

Peace of Cake...erm...Yeah
Author: Fred Weasley
Date: 12-05-01 00:51

"That's brilliant!" George said, slapping Fred on the back.

"Quite!"

The twins entered the Great Hall, each filing down opposite sides of the Gryffindor table. They occupied the last two seats available for upper classmen on the near end. Most of the professors were already sitting at the Head Table, waiting for McGonagall to arrive with the first years.

The boys glanced around the room, brainstorming how they would carry out their devious plan. Fred's eyes locked on Draco Malfoy's as he scanned the Slytherin table.

"Oh look, the Weasley twins have arrived in their hand-me-down robes," Malfoy snickered, elbowing Crabbe and Goyle.

"Put a sock in it, Malfoy," Fred yelled, before shifting his attention back on George.

George rolled his eyes, "I'd like to see the day someone pinches off Malfoy's inheritance. 'E'd most certainly make a miserable peasant!"

"'E'll rue the day 'e ever messed with us. Now, you think we can pull this off, George?" Fred asked, glancing suspiciously at the main table.

"Piece of cake, Fred." Both boys burst out laughing. "No pun intended!"

Sitting Down
Author: Dr. Armageddon Endikut
Date: 12-05-01 01:59

Many of the students entered the Great Hall and sat at their table. None of the students, except for Hagrid know my true purpose at Hogwarts. True I am here to teach, which I shall, but I have a more offical duty to deal with. Then again, the last thing I need is a bunch of professors under my toes. I know one man that will never get this job! Lockhart! I read enough of his records to find out that Miss Granger or Prof. Trelawney could teach the DADA class. Prof. Trelawney is a capable wizard in her own right, and Miss Granger has remarkable grades. But Lockhart is to magic as Custard is to war, just brainless pretty boys. I turned to Snape, "Is it ok if I sit on a stone block? I don't like these soft chairs," I said.

Walking In
Author: Majandra
Date: 12-05-01 02:40

Entering the Great Hall, already abuzz with hundreds of voices, Majandra Fine pauses a moment to say hello to her friend Bell from Hufflepuff. As Majandra turns to walk to the Gryffindor table, she overhears two fourth year Slytherin boys making slurs about Bell being Muggle born, including calling her a Mudblood.

Majandra grabs one of the boys by the scruff of his neck and hisses in his ear, "Pyrrhus Melville Fine, if I ever hear you use that word again then before you can blink you'll have a Howler from Mum and Dad suspending your allowance!"

Py shoves Majandra away, a dark scowl marring his face. "Don't embarass me in front of a friend like that. Next time you'll regret it."

"Oh? Not enough you say such low things about Muggles when our own father is Muggle born but now you're threatening me? You think you could challenge me to a duel and win? Or what, going to play some cowardly trick behind my back? Think twice before you speak, little brother, or you'll be the one with regrets."

Eyebrow raised meaningfully at Pyrrhus, Majandra leaves him standing there and goes over to the Gryffindor table. A bright smile now on her face, Majandra joins the other fifth years and sits eagerly anticipating the Sorting Ceremony.

Re: the Side-Room: Introductions

Unsure of what to expect, Amerah looked at Professor McGonagall. She seems strict but a nice lady none the less. "The sorting should begin soon. They sort us by placing a hat on our head and the hat decides where we go based on what are mind set it, apparently. At least that's what I've been told. I read a little about it too."

Meeting Professors
Author: Aradia Forest
Date: 12-05-01 06:05

Professor McGonagall looks around, taking measure of the new students. My first impression is that she is not one to anger. She is very strict-looking. She gives instructions, including not to get into trouble. I look over to Samantha and whisper, "Hey! Did you hear that? No causing trouble!" and grin.

The Professor looks at me "Miss Forest, I presume." I nod. "Yes, Professor," I reply. "I'm Aradia Forest. Pleased to meet you."
