Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw
Author: Viktor Krum
Date: 08-07-04 12:24

The sun out under partially cloudy skies, today's game is being played in true, fine, spring weather. Viktor has the balls ready to go in the middle of the pitch as Bronwyn Dewhurst announces the teams. With quaffle in hand, Viktor waits for the team captains, Ron Weasley and Kody Reese-Emerson to meet with him for the official start.

Two sets of double doors swung open to admit the fourteen Quidditch players of the hour. They were Ron Weasley, Ginny Weasley, Tranquillina Aemilius, Oreiliah McCoi, Brett Kingston, Annie Paul and Harry Potter for Gryffindor, and Drake Bennett, Kody Reese-Emerson, Ariana Maison, Martin Makepeace, Coco Nutt, Fritz Schnackenpfefferhausen and Emma Crusher for Ravenclaw. The captains, Ron and Kody, approached center field, where Viktor waited for them. He gave his usual instructions for game play, the boys shook hands, and then it was off to the skies to meet their teammates, who were already in the air. They quickly went into formation for the release of the balls.

First the snitch took flight and disappeared from sight, then the bludgers rocketed through cloud and then the quaffle was thrown straight up, directly into the arms of Ginny. She immediately made a dash for the Ravenclaw goal hoops.

"And Gryffindor has control of the quaffle!" Bronwyn shouted.

The First Day at Hogwarts

Finally the day had come, when I arrived at Hogwarts. I've heard all about Hogwarts from the former witch craft and wizardy school I came from, but never have I thought that it would be this big, the inside was even more amazeing!

When arrived I went first into the great hall to grab some breakfast, since it was morning, but before I even got to sit down any where a teacher by the name Professor McGonagall instructed me to follow her. She seemed to be in a bit of a hurry and was walking rather fast. I didn't like walking in a fast pace because I wanted to soak in all the beauty of the school but I guess I would have time to do that later.

Professor McGonagall led me into a staircase where she then said something to the gargoyle statues, a password I presume, which caused the staircase to start to move up. She then joined me on the ride up, when we got to the top a large wooden door was already open. When we walked in she instructed me to take a seat where she then sat an old black hat on my head. It then started to speak, after takeing a few seconds talking about my personality it made its decision, Slytherin.

Professor McGonagall then lead me back down and back into the great hall, she told me that I would sit at the table where the serpent picture hung over, and eat breakfast, then when I was done a prefect or head of house would show me where the Slytherin common room is where all 6th years sleep.

After I walked over to the Slytherin table I took a seat by myself, hoping that someone would soon come and talk to me.

Happy Beginnings
Author: Tranquillina Aemilius
Date: 08-07-04 18:19

It was an absolutely gorgeous day for a Quidditch game. There were clear, blue skies, the birds were singing, it was warm enough for the fans to not have to wear coats, and Tranquillina's stomach was playing ping-pong with her heart ---- as usual.

Tranquillina was elated as she saw Ginny grasp the quaffle as soon as it was tossed. The crowd cheered (or jeered) below as Ginny went racing like mad for the Ravenclaw goal hoops. Tranq soon found herself high up off the ground, soaring through the airs, making sure she was available to Ginny if she needed to toss Tranq the quaffle.

With a gasp, Tranquillina ducked below a bludger. A close shave, but she didn't allow herself much time to think. She continued to an open spot and watched as Ginny approached the goals.

Drat!
Author: Harry Potter
Date: 08-07-04 20:52

Harry immediately begins the search for the snitch. He spots it just as it darts behind one of the grandstands. Harry goes around the other way so as not to chance accidently going out of bounds. His intention is to intercept the snitch and make a very early game of it. That was the intention but the snitch doesn't seem to appear.

Smothering an oath, Harry climbs high above the pitch, eyes rapidly scanning back and forth. A glint of sunlight on something shiny against a cloud and Harry's once again on the snitch's trail.

Convergence
Author: Kody
Date: 08-07-04 21:18

A blue blur causes Ginny to lose her grip on the quaffle. For the next several minutes it changes hands too many times for Kody to keep count only to end up with Ginny again. Kody leans low over his broom, shooting up beside her. Without touching her or her broom, Kody manages to tap his fingers against the quaffle tucked under her arm. The tap isn't hard but it does the job and once again the quaffle goes flying free, all six chasers converging on it with the four beaters working to send bludgers into flight paths.

As the ten players reach the mid-pitch area, Kody would almost swear there is a collective gasp from the spectators as they wait with baited breath to see who will collide, who will foul, who will get bludgered, and who will gain the quaffle.

The Thick of Things
Author: Fritz Schnackenpfefferhausen
Date: 08-08-04 09:11

Everything seems chaotic at first as the scarlet- and blue-clad players meet in the middle. The chasers make a mad scramble for the quaffle, which continues to bounce from hand to hand at lightening speed. Fritz and the other bludgers, meanwhile, are in the thick of it too, wildly wielding their clubs to defend their teammates and hinder their opponents.

A black orb comes careening in Fritz's direction, and with all the force he has Fritz sends it flying back from whence it came. He spots Brett prepping for the return, but doesn't let his eyes linger in that direction for long because a victor emerges from the pack of chasers with the quaffle in arm. It's Ariana, one of Ravenclaw's own, who makes a furious dart for the Gryffindor hoops.

She is sporting a red bump on her forehead from an apparent collision during the fray, but she displays only determination to score for Ravenclaw. Fritz bursts forward like a torpedo to meet his mark, when a bludger rips through a patch of cloud directly into Ariana's path.

Swerving in front of her, Fritz knocks the bludger out of sight before executing a sharp roll to the left to move out of Ariana's flight path. She tears forward and uses one forceful toss to send the quaffle straight over Ron's head through the center hoop.

"Maison scores!" Bronwyn shouts gleefully. "Ravenclaw leads by 10!"

Blocking with Bludgers
Author: Brett Kingston
Date: 08-08-04 12:22

In a blink Brett is beside Orie as she catches the toss from Ron after Ravenclaw scores. He lobs a bludger towards Makepeace then shoots ahead of Orie to help open up her path. Midway between the Gryffindor hoops and the center of the pitch, Orie makes a perfect pass to Ginny.

A bludger is sent straight towards Ginny who, hearing Brett's warning, performs a roll to the right while passing off the quaffle to Tranquilina. The bludger meant for Ginny is intercepted by Brett and soundly hit to send it screaming to the cluster of Ravenclaw chasers flying at top speed to catch up with the quaffle.

Passing
Author: Ginny Weasley
Date: 08-08-04 12:38

Ginny accepts the quaffle from Tranq then sents it ahead to Orie. By that time Tranq has passed Orie so the youngest of the Gryffindor players passes off to her. The three work their way down the pitch, aided by both Brett and Annie doing excellent work as the team beaters.

They reach the goals without any problems from the Ravenclaw team. Drake, the other team's keeper, darts back and forth before the hoops but the chasers in front of him have each taken up position in front of one of the hoops, sending the quaffle back and forth between them so quickly it's just a blur. Drake looks past them to his teammates - the chasers being held back by the work of Brett and Annie while the other two beaters, Coco and Fritz zip around trying to intercept the bludgers before either Annie or Brett get to them again.

As Drake dives to the left to block when Ginny makes as if to throw for a goal, the quaffle is passed off and Orie sends it through the center hoop. Ginny grins when she hears, "McCoi scores for Gryffindor. The score's tied at ten all.

Another Quidditch Game!
Author: Sora
Date: 08-08-04 12:48

Again, Sora was excitedly watching the quidditch game with his friends. He nearly fell over the bleachers about ten times (what else is new), and better than that, he brought a whole bag of chocolate frogs with him (he had recently gotten another bag of them from his mother).

Sharing his frogs with everyone, Sora stuffed two into his mouth to see how it felt, but the two frogs moved to each cheek and started to croak and bounce everywhere! Everyone looked over to Sora laughing, it was a rather funny sight. "Now look what you did Kiwi!" laughed Kairi as she and Rikku began to poke at Sora's fat cheeks.

Riku on the other hand, paid no attention to this. Instead he watched the game as if it were the only thing interesting going on. "Can I try?? Can I???" asked Rikku. Sora only fell backwards off his seat, but Rikku grabbed a few chocolate frogs anyways. Kairi could only laugh. Riku just snorted. "Oh look! It's the croaking gang!"

Getting Around
Author: Victoria Mckay
Date: 08-08-04 14:55

As I sat there at the Slyhtherin table for a few minutes eating my eggs and toast a girl by the name of Pansy Parkinson came and introduced her self to me.

"Hi, I'm Pansy Parkinson, you must be new, what is your name?" Pansy had asked me. She didn't seemed so mean so I decided that I would continue chatting with her.

"Yes, I am new, and my name is Victoria." I replied

"Well then I'm guessing you're going to need some help getting to the Slytherin common room and around to your classes?" She asked.

"Well, yes I do, would you mind helping me around, I'm done eating so maybe you could show me to the common room right now?" I asked, hoping that she would still stay friendly with me and show me around the school, since she seemed to be the only one willing to help.

"Of course I'll help you around come on, follow me." she directed.

So I got up and followed her out of the great hall, we walked quite a ways but instead of going up we seemed to be going down, into a dungeon type area. When we finally came to a halt in front of a large door, I was going to ask her if we were going to go in but then it seemed like she knew what she was doing becuase she was talking to it.

"Did you hear what I just said?" She asked me in a strict voice.

"Yes, I did, why?" I asked, wishing that I never did because I sounded stupid.

"Ok, good, becuase that's our password and if you ever want you get into our common room you need to remember it." Pansy instructed me.

After listening and agreeing with her we finally walked in, it was kinda gloomy but I enjoyed it all the same. I liked all the green and silver and the pictures of serpents and such. Sitting by the fire place seemed like such a great to do when you want to relax, but I still had to go to my room and unpack. Pansy then led me up a flight of stairs, where there were a few doors labled with year numbers.

"oh ya I forgot to ask, what year are you in?" Pansy asked.

"Year 6." I replied.

She then lead me into the room that was labled year 6, inside were 5 beds with curtain like things that hung around them to hide your self when you were asleep.

I then found my trunk lying in front of one of the beds, next to the window.

"Well I think I'm just going to unpack now, thanks for showing me here." I told Pansy.

"Are you crazy? You can unpack later, there's a quiditch game going on right now! Come on, let's go down and watch it." Pansy said, instructing me to follow her once again.

Since I already knew what quiditch was I didn't have to ask her to explain it to me, but I must say I was quite excited to see my first quidditch match here at Hogwarts!

A Sea of White... Parchments, that is

"Late again!", I mumbled to myself as I ran up the steps to reach my friends in the stands. I had a couple of text books clutched under my arm, and parchments under the other. Finally, I reached Sora and the rest of the gang.

"Hey guys". I puffed for air, and then smiled. "Did I miss anything? Did Tranquillina score? Are we winning? Did I miss...." Before I could finish my sentence, a brown thing jumped out of the stands and into my hair.

"Gah!" I screamed and automatically grabbed at the thing in my hair with both hands. My books scattered across the floor, and the parchments, picked up by the strong breeze, flew in all directions.

"What is it, what is it?" I screamed.

Sora walked over to me with a sheepish grin, and plucked the chocolate frog out of my hair.

"Sorry Roane", laughed Sora. "I didn't mean for that to... Wow! Look at them go!"

I turned, assuming he was talking about the match, only to find that my parchments had flow onto the field, causing havoc with the players.

"Uh oh".

First Quidditch Game
Author: Victoria Mckay

Pansy had led us out into the Hogwarts school ground and into the quidditch stadium. We made our way up into the Slytherin section and took our seats.

"Omigod, Victoria, look!" Pansy yelled over all the noises in the crowed, while she was pointing at the game.

Someone had let their piece of parchment fly into the stadium, causing chaos among the quidditch players. The game had to be called to a short stop so that the parchment could be removed, and the players could go back and play normally. When the players were called back into the air to finish the game, I was too excited to listen to the announcements. I sat there in amazement watching the players fly around and trying to knock each other off therr brooms, and score and such. Sure I have heard about quidditch but never have I once seen a real game, it was such a thrilling thing to watch. Pansy kept of trying to talk to me but I just kept on ignoring her, I was way into the game.

Score!
Author: Kody
Date: 08-09-04 07:24

Martin takes the quaffle as Drake tosses it back into play. Martin makes it almost to the Gryffindor goals when he's hit by a bludger. Instinctively grabbing his shoulder, Martin lets go of the quaffle. McCoi shoots in to grab it just as Ariana does the same. They collide so hard Kody can see a few splinters go flying and the quaffle falls below them both.

Making a sharp dive, Kody snaps it up and is off. From the corner of his eye he sees a bludger heading his way. Easily dodging it, Kody reaches the goals. He sets up to throw, aiming for the hoop on his right. Weasley leans hard to block, his fingers touching the quaffle. A bludger streaks by, hitting Weasley's broom, jarring the broom and its rider hard enough that he's knocked away from the quaffle.

The quaffle, wobbling towards the goal rim thanks to Weasley having grazed it with one hand, bounces then goes through the hoop. As Kody hears the score being announces as, "Ravenclaw 20, Gryffindor 10," he realizes he'd been holding his breath while seeing if the quaffle would actually go through the hoop or not.

Slow Progess
Author: Severus Snape
Date: 08-09-04 09:17

Spread out across several desks in the potions classroom were items of various types: photographs, vials and flasks of liquids and powders, parchment, quill and ink, and several books. A cauldron simmered on the floor in between the first row of desks and the podium at the front of the room, where the potions master sat contemplating a conundrum.

"Blue, green, orange, yellow..." Snape muttered aloud. He held before him a text on alchemical properties and read the chapter on pigmentation.

Having already determined the characteristics of the ink used to pen the text on the Volumen Immortalitas, and having already completed a full translation of the text and a complete overhaul of it for his later substitution with the original scroll, all that was left for Snape to do was to determine what material to use for the scroll itself and to age it appropriately.

He didn't even want to think about his later journey back into the lion's den. He'd cross that bridge when he'd come to it.

"Vellum, of course," Snape spoke to himself, for that much he could see for himself. But what kind? Young calf? He imagined the original document and attempted to remember exactly how it felt when he'd run his hands over it. Soft and smooth, but not completely flat like an ordinary piece of paper.

His eyes fell over a particular passage in the book, which he'd read three times already. If the pattern dissolves to clear, the biological composition is six months in age plus five days for each bold color represented, minus seven days for each pastel color. View table 4.2 for a color chart.

Snape leaned back in his chair and sighed. On top of this assignment for the Order, he had a mountain of potions essays to grade and lesson plans for next week to review. He was planning on giving a pop quiz in his NEWT classes, and as such needed to select some appropriate, yet deviously difficult questions for the quiz by the end of the week.

So much to do, so little time! Snape thought to himself, and then he leaned back over his podium and read through the paragraph again.
