Arguing About Nothing

Adam and Sidi were preparing for the day. Adam, awaited Molly's arrival in the shoppe and Sidi sat with him drinking coffee, ready to apparate to Romania.

Her eyes lingered on the Griffindor scarf Adam had bought from a boy at the last Quidditch match.

"I can't believe that kid sold you his scarf." She laughed remembering the boy driving a hard bargin and telling Adam that he could get in a lot of trouble for "losing" it so the risk made it a bit expensive.

Adam, never having to think about money a day in his life, gave him what he wanted without question.

Adam looked up at the scarf wistfully. "If I had been invited to Hogwarts, I wonder how I would have been sorted. It would have been so cool.

"I don't believe that you weren't invited to Hogwarts." Sidi suddenly said. "Albus Dumbledore wouldn't exclude you Adam. He's too good and intelligent of a man."

Adam paused. "If we're going to start the morning singing 'Hail oh Dumbledore 'All Mighty and Strong' I'll just pass okay?" He shook his head in frustration. It was obvious why he hadn't been invited to Hogwarts and it angered him that Sidi always took Dumbledore's side. She didn't even know him."

Sidi continued. "No, Adam. I think you were invited and Darius lied to you. I realize how completely unusual that would be and how utterly hard to believe."

She rolled her eyes. Although Adam's father was rather methodical, focused and discrete with his work these days, in his youth he was reckless, ambitious and ego driven.

"Adam, even squibs get invited to Hogwarts so it doesn't make sense. He would have tried to help you. Look what he did for Harry Potter."

Sidi remembered the stories of how Harry's guardians tried to keep him out of Hogwarts. They were muggles though and had no right to defy his dead parents wishes. Adam was Darius' son so she was sure Dumbledore wouldn't mess with a father's right to raise his own son. Albus Dumbledore was a noble, honorable and fair man.

Adam looked at her bored and blankly. "What did he do with Harry Potter, do I know him and why should I care?"

Sidi stood up an stamped her foot. "We've been here how long and you don't even know or bothered to remember the story of Harry Potter? Maybe Darius was right. Maybe you are too stupid and lazy to go to Hogwarts!" She hated his apathy and sarcasm.

Adam looked at his watch. "Oh look at the time. Don't you have some horny werewolves waiting for you in Romania?" He glared.

"Fine!" she yelled then threw her coffee cup at him and apparated to work. "FINE!" he yelled back at nothing.

Oh L'Amour

"Please Vera...say something…" Lawrence offered softly, not liking the fact that she had remained silent through this whole thing. His hands slipped into the pockets of his robes.

Vera had stared down at the ground in silence. She didn't know what to think or say. "Give me a while to gather my thoughts Lawrence…" She looked up into his eyes for a moment before heading back to the game. All though her thoughts were now elsewhere…

****

It had been a little over two weeks since the game and speaking with Lawrence. Vera’s studies suffered sense then. Even today, in Herbology, she wasn't paying attention. She stared off into space pretending to do what was asked.

Susan and her sat in the common room. It was almost noon now, and the two headed out for some lunch. "What am I doing Susan?" Vera voiced suddenly in the hall. "This is stupid!" Vera dropped the book she was holding and ran, leaving Susan grinning behind her.

Vera knew Lawrence was getting out of Herbology now. Sure enough there he was walking slowly in her direction. He was turned to the left talking with someone. Sporting a double take as he noticed her running toward him. "Vera?" He questioned.

She practically jumped on him out of breath embracing him strongly. Before he could say anything she kissed him with wet cheeks. They were tears of joy though. She had finally broken from her foolishness realizing she loved him and did not want to loose him. Who cared what he had done. It was in the past and she wanted to think of the future.

When Vera tilted her head back and looked into those eyes she loved, they were filled with confusion. He didn't have to say anything for Vera to know what he was thinking. "I've been a fool Lawrence. I love you. I love you." She rested her head on his shoulder just embracing him.

A tear rolled down Lawrence's cheek as he stood, holding her not wanting to let go…

Ravenclaw House
Author: Emma Crusher
Date: 03-04-04 18:57

Emma sat quietly in her dormitory, a candle sitting precariously on the navy bedspread. She wouldn't normally have needed it, but it was dark in the room, and she'd closed the bedcurtains. From the corner of her eye, she saw it rock unsteadily from side to side. Without really looking up from her book, she motioned with her wand and sent it levitating a few inches from the warm bed cover.

A part of her wanted to be down in the common room, where the bright, warming fire would be roaring in the hearth, but the book she held in her lap was not one she could take downstairs; not without getting into trouble.

It had been sent to her just yesterday afternoon (it hadn't arrived with the morning post and, upon opening it, she could see why). The large silver-embossed letters read Spells of Darkness: For the Ambitious Witch. There had been no letter attached, no note or message, and in her heart Emma knew that she ought to turn it in to Prof. Dumbledore, but she didn't. Instead, she'd been up all last night reading it, she'd very nearly forgotten to go to class - had Ariana not reminded her, she would have been in serious trouble.

She carefully turned to the next hand-written, fragile page and continued to read. The spells were far beyond her skill, many of them were even beyond her imagination. Spells to call into existence demons and beasts, potions to melt rocks into magma, thick and hot.

The dormitory door opened, and she slammed the book shut, then shoved it under the warm quilt of blue. Taking up her pen, she pretended to be working on her Transfiguration essay.

'Emma, you in here?' It was Ariana, of course.

'Yeah, I'm here.'

A corner of the navy curtains was pulled aside. 'Are you alright?'

'Sure, why?' the other girl gave Emma a look that clearly said why she was asking. Emma sighed. 'I just wanted some peace and quiet, that's all.'

'Alright, come on down, though, Drake and Kody have started one heck of a game of Exploding Snap.'

A Very Early Christmas Gift
Author: Tigeress
Date: 03-05-04 07:11

It had been months since the young student Hermione Granger's father was found by her and his mind was damaged. I knew how the dark arts can destroy families. Searching my shop I found just the thing for the young lady. A pendent of healers. I heard she wanted to become one and looked for a scroll she might like. It showed some of the most ancient mind healing spells. Maybe one could help her father.

Placing the items in a box, I tied it with a ribbon and took some sealing wax to it and pressed my school ring to it showing the seal of my schoolhouse Isis. Going to the Owl Post I took a large Barn for local deliveries and sent it off with the message. "Do not open till Christmas from a friend." The owl looked at me and I told him. "Hogwarts Castle, Miss H. Granger." The owl gave a low hoot and took off.

Guilty as Charged
Author: Ethan Somerset

"Dinner is served," said the guard outside Ethan's cell, pushing a thin tray through the flap in the gate. On it was a small, round bowl of gray slop, a square corner of bread and a short, tin cup of water.

Ethan took the tray and carried it the few paces to the far side of the cell, where he settled down on the floor with his back up against the wall. He picked up the spoon on the tray and poked at the mysterious gruel, shuddering inwardly. It was the same meal he had had every night for dinner since his arrival at Azkaban two weeks ago.

He had been kept at the Ministry of Magic over the weekend after turning himself in to the authorities and confessing all to Dierna and Dumbledore. They'd kept him in a containment area not quite as gloomy as Azkaban, and the food had been much, much better.

Bright and early the following Monday, Dierna came to collect Ethan and brought him to trial where the Wizengamot heard his crimes, deliberated and found him guilty of all charges. They sentenced him to life in prison, destroyed his wand and that evening Hit Wizards escorted Ethan to Azkaban prison.

He remembered appearing on the shore near the island with his entourage, staring out across the sea at what would be his home for the remainder of his existence. A boat appeared and a few Hit Wizards led him aboard. It sailed on its own across the sea towards Azkaban, which towered over the small band of wizards as they approached the island. Guards outside the fortress approached the boat and escorted Ethan inside.

Ethan remembered that Dierna had played a great role in the prison's reconstruction after the battle with Voldemort and the dementors. He knew the corridors constantly changed and that one couldn't apparate or disapparate or do certain other spells inside the building. Hit Wizards were posted everywhere.

The escort led him to a chamber, where Ethan was given a new set of robes (plain black). They relieved him of his personal items and waited for him to change into his prison garb before escorting him to his cell. Turn right, walk several paces down a narrow corridor, through double doors, turn left, turn left, go straight some more, turn right, down another corridor. He didn't know why he committed the path to memory; it would be different the next time he walked it, if he'd ever walked it again.

The Hit Wizards stopped Ethan in front of a cell on the right side of the corridor, the last one at the end of the hall. The whole place was dark; the walls were made of large slabs of stone, the bars on the cell were of the blackest steel and a handful of tiny light bulbs hung from the stone ceiling. There weren't any windows.

One of the wizards revealed his wand and uttered an unfamiliar incantation causing the gate to Ethan's cell to swing open. The team urged Ethan inside, where he turned to face his captors and allowed them to magically remove the bonds from his wrists. The ropes disappeared and the gate swung shut, and Ethan was left alone in his cell until dinner a few hours later...

Two weeks in, and Ethan was already beyond sick of Azkaban. But he knew he belonged there. He'd done a terrible deed, and it was only fitting that he pay for it.

"You gonna eat that, Somerset?" the Hit Wizard asked, coming by a few minutes later to see that everyone in the corridor had a meal.

Ethan stopped twirling his spoon in the mass of gray gruel and sighed.

Fleeting Doubts
Author: Riku
Date: 03-06-04 00:59

Riku sat studying in the common room. He was finding it difficult to keep up in all of his classes. It pissed him off every time he thought about asking Sora or Kairi for help since they’d just make things worse. Not to mention they already have enough classes to deal with on their own.

With a heavy sigh he threw down his quill and leaned back in his char. As he sat back looking up at the ceiling he thought about just giving up on some of his classes. He didn't really need to know the history of magic, it's not like he could pay attention in that class when he was asleep anyway.

Giving up already? A voice in the back of his mind asked. Riku sat straight up. The voice was right; he couldn’t give up, not now. He had only just started on the path before him. Giving up now would only close the very doors that lay ahead.

Riku knew those doors were there, and he just had to see what lay in each one. With a renewed sense of purpose, he picked up his quill and set back to work.

Draco, Draco, Draco! All Girls Like Draco?
Author: Ariel Edmunds
Date: 03-06-04 15:14

"What is so special about him?" Ariel thinks to herself as she sits in the common room. "Yes, he is the son of Lucius. But what else?" Ariel sits there pondering why all the girls like Draco Malfoy. She begins staring into the fire with an expression of deep thought.

Moving a hair out of her hair, she shakes her head trying not to think of Draco. "Oy! I hope I am not turning into every other girl...worse...Pansy! She is a bit obsessed with poor Draco..." Her voice fades as she heard someone coming in the common room. She did not want to seem crazy.

As the third yeaS slytherin girl walks out of hearing range, Ariel begins thinking again. "Well what about Blaise Zambini? He is cute too. WHAT AM I THINKING?" Closing her eyes she slouches on the large couch she is sitting on.

Yawning she opens her eyes too look once again into the fire. "Is Draco some secret romantic? That only the girls he has been with know about? Or maybe it is the whole bad boy thing. I like bad boys..." Ariel stops herself from thinking anything else. She does not want to be like other girls, she is different.

It was lunch time, but Emma could have cared less about the empty feeling in her stomach. She'd skipped breakfast, too, and had eaten almost nothing the night before. The book seemed to have taken over all of her thoughts; even her homework was suffering. That morning, she'd handed in a half-completed, made up astronomy table which she'd put together on her way to class. That afternoon, her Transfiguration essay was due and she couldn't even say what it was supposed to be about.

The worst of it was, she didn't care. She was, however, curious as to who had sent her that strange book...

Wizarding World
Author: Amashelle
Date: 03-06-04 16:30

It had been ages since Amashelle had recruited those few surviving Giants to her master's cause, and they had since taken over the task of gaining the support of their kin. In the meantime, she had been free to go about her own business until her master needed her again.

Which is how her dear sister's daughter had come to be in the possession of one of Amashelle's favorite books. 'Poor little Emma Crusher,' she thought, distantly, 'how I wish I could see your face...'

Durmstrang Institute: Special Delivery
Author: Merdroit Turin
Date: 03-06-04 18:59

After Merdroit's thorough unimpressive first year class was done, the wizard stacked back to his office. On the desk a wrapped parcel was waiting. No note. No label. Just a parcel wrapped in brown paper.

"Ah! Finally arrived?" Merdroit said to himself. He opened the parcel - always unlabeled and unsigned by his 'sources' to make sure everything was proper. As satisfied as he ever can be, Merdroit threw some Floo Powder into his fireplace

"Nathaniel Hawkins' residence," He said, then stuck his head in.

AT the other end, Nathaniel jumped seeing a head suddenly appear in his study's hearth, then relaxed. "Oh, Merdroit!"

"Who did you expect?" Merdroit asked, annoyed by his "friend's" jumpiness. "Here are the other items for that woman. Make sure you get the other half of my money before giving her the goods."

"Yes, Merdroit! Of course." This was the usual procedure. Nathaniel knew it well.

"Good. I'll see you at the next meeting then."

Merdroit removed his head from the fireplace and headed for his next class.

Much Needed Time with Vera
Author: Lawrence Masterson
Date: 03-07-04 08:10

Lawrence came back into the common room after Muggle Studies, he ran his books upstairs and came back down and grinned seeing Vera and Susan there. "Come on you. Let's go to lunch." Obviously the Hufflepuff boy was definitely in a good mood as of late.

Vera and Susan chuckled and the three headed down to the great hall for lunch. Lawrence and Vera sat side by side once again, as the three chatted about the upcoming quidditch game between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.

"What are you guys doing for break?" Susan asked, eyes darting between the two.

"I don't know yet, I was thinking about staying here this year again. Unless Vera wants to do something." Lawrence said, offering her a smile.

"I don't know yet." Vera said with a shrug.

The three soon headed back up to the common room and Susan headed upstairs leaving the two alone, they settled upon one of the couches and Lawrence curled an arm around Vera holding her close. "Thank you..." he said softly, pressing a kiss to her cheek.

The two sat and just talked for what seemed like hours on end, relaxing and just enjoying each other's company, Lawrence's hand occasionally dipping into the pocket of his robes to toy with the box there, debating on giving this to her early, or waiting.

Lunch Meeting Tomorrow
Author: Sirius Padfoot Black
Date: 03-07-04 18:44

Strolling along in the open air market, the sun started to create patterns of red and orange on the horizon against the backgroup of growing twilight, Sirius picks and chooses from the wide selection of late fall-early winter, fresh produce. Mindful that this farmer's style market will be closing soon, Sirius tries not to meander too slowly while still enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells.

Thumping a pumpkin, Sirius smiles, thinking how it would make an excellent pie. After paying for the pumpkin, he stops to take mental stock of his purchases then satisfied he's got everything he needs from here, Sirius leaves the farmer's market already going over the list of other things he needs for tomorrow's lunch meeting.

In an effort to stave off the nervousness he's felt ever since sending out messages inviting certain people to lunch at their usual place, Sirius decided he'd make the meal. Afterall, those coming will be giving up their lunch hours and since he had veiled this meeting as friends getting together for lunch, Sirius thought the least he could do is actually have a meal waiting for them. As they eat, he'll let them know why he needed to speak to them.

After picking up the other items he needs for tomorrow, Sirius goes home to Hogsmeade, wishing tomorrow would hurry up and get here.
